Owned two copies cause I burned the first one playing too much. Also found out that 1) there is a cap of 25 seasons in GM mode and 2) players don’t retire if you keep winning the cup. I would go undefeated for years and Sakic, Forsberg never retired, just kept up same skill level into their 50’s until the game wouldn’t let me go further.

I remember it felt like Phaneuf had all the makings of a future Norris winner. Then he just petered off, and there were rumors of lockerroom issues with him. Then he went on to become Captain Pylon for the Leafs, leading them to the immaculate game 7 comeback victory for Boston.

I was a kid, 9 when my brother got this for me and it became my favourite game as a kid, I obsessed over it and remembered all the contracts for my franchise team. I still remember how broken the dekes were and how big the hits were, how to always score after curling into the slot, and how to hammer the stupid soft Sedins every time they entered the zone.

The curve shot, the goal line, the wrap around. Truly a glitched masterpiece.

This game pisses me off only for the reason that I tried to trade it in in 2012 and was told I couldn’t cuz it was too old.
