The best forward on the ice? I think so
shogun2909
Way more skilled than I thought
Exciting-Ideal-7899
Sure did, I would say he’s the biggest surprise going into the season
Minato_is_God
He’s gonna force some hard decisions if he keeps it up. I didn’t realize he was such a good skater.
Sushamiboy
If the Habs are really serious about the players forcing their hand, Kapanen would be taking Dvorak’s spot in the lineup. They were at the polar opposite of impacts on this game.
Olandsexport
That dude was NSFW out there. If he cleans up his FOs a bit he’s a bonafide stud.

Best forward on the ice, can be used on the PK. As I said Dvo and/or Evans should be sweatin’
_Saputawsit_
He would look great with Dach and Laine and I’ll die on that hill.

KAPER🤯😍

I bet you KH is already making calls

Bro woke up and chose ~~violence~~ possession

Jake Evans shaking right now.

Yeah kept turning to my dad and being like man Kapanens game has looked really good. Forechecked hard, great vision, played with heart. Looked fantastic.
Frites_Sauce_Fromage
That’s how he was playint in the WC and I’ve been rooting for him since and kept saying he was the most underrated rookie. I’m so happy he maintained that level of play.
If he took a step that big in the middle of the last season, I can’t even imagine his ceiling. Sure he’s light but he’s so fast and skilled.
Laine was great too and got close to score a few times
Alcatrazzz01
Malheureusement nous avons trop de lourds contrats de vétérans… ce gars là doit rester
Huevas03
Kapanen will take Roy’s spot if he keeps playing like tonight

The Sept 9th article on A Winning Habit corals our sentiments here. Worth a read if you missed it.

That whole line played so well. ABB looked great as well.
saturnismyrotary
Didn’t he grow 2 inches and put on 20 pounds? I thought I saw a weigh in comparison from last year but can’t find it now.
Cantevenkickflip
I owe Oliver an apology, I wasn’t familiar with his game. Huge standout for me this game. I want him on the squad this year

Y’all are acting like Dvorak being on the team is by choice. We have 1 retention slot available and nobody who needs Dvo is taking/can afford him at 4.5M. So unless you guys are down to add a sweetener(see how much it cost for Laine) Dvorak is here until the TDL, at least, and Kapanen goes to Europe with a spot ready for him next season.
It’s actually a great problem to have at this point.
DoubleZek
Biggest surprise of tonight. Dude is shiffty and creative with his skates and stick
Bebop_Rocksteady27
Other GMs be like “how the hell am I going to fill out my roster?” Went Wughs be like “Hoes mad?”
Setheyboy
The play early on where he kept the puck on the o-zone for about fifteen seconds on the wall then passed was 👌🫡
lacoupe25
I attended the game..For me, first star was Joshua Roy, second star Primeau, third star Kapanen, with honorable mention to Heineman. Kapanen is big, skilled, and obviously NHL-ready.
TonyBean420
I would definitely put him over dvorak based on this game he played 5 minutes less went 8/14 in face offs had a +2 with 2 assists and 2 shots on goal the only thing dvorak had on him was 2 blocks with 5 more minutes played and had a worse fo% kap should definitely take his spot
NME_TV
He keeps playing like that he has to earn a spot. The team finished 5th last, if a young stud can’t earn a spot we’re not serious about being better and rebuilding.
Booyacaja
Oof who will be the true 91 in MTL??? This guy might have a roster spot this year! What about our other 91??
NtBtFan
at least not during hockey season … Sweden is delightful during the offseason months
Weary_Ingenuity2963
He reminded me of KK at his best with us. With balance. KK had this one skill that I really loved : the puck would just stick to his blade. Kapanen kinda reminded me of that tonight. Whenever the puck was near him, he’d just snatch it and do something smart with it.

We sent Armia to Laval last year. Send Dvo if you have to. Expiring contract, guy left over from old regime. Maybe someone takes him on waivers.
MrB1P92
I wouldn’t want to go to Sweden either as a Finn that’s never played there.
