Less than a mil ouch
Did we just walk a player to free agency that has no intention of resigning with the team next year?
For a 40 point guy being forced to take a deal under 900k to continue playing in the league I completely get why he wants out of Toronto. He's 22 and is at the point he should be starting to earn big contracts and he isn't allowed because of who drafted him. I can't see him continuing with the Leafs going into another season…
He smarting up nick he would've ruined his career by not signing or sitting out ,not much interest in the nhl too have trade him
if he get 15TOI a night and plays the full season i could totally see him getting 30 goals, ontop of that his playmaking is underrated completely, incoming 50-60 point season
Good news that Leafs did not overpay, and only a 1 year term. Thought they'd make the same mistake they recently made with Liljegren. I'm not sold at all on this guy despite all your sales pitches, but who knows, maybe he'll prove all of us naysayers wrong.
Sign and trade. Great shooter who should be on the power play and Iām thinking he could be traded around the 15 game mark
He's a good player if he gets some consistent ice time he will score at least 25 goals. Remember Bertuzzi scored 21 goals for 5 million. Think about it Bertuzzi was playing on the top 2 lines. Robertson gets a quarter of the ice time on the 3rd and 4th line.

If he can focus on the defensive part of his game the goals and top 6 mins will come.
I think that the 870K and 1 year is as much Robertson testing to see if the Leafs give him the ice-time and role that he deserves as it is the Leafs testing to see how he performs this coming season – as long as they give him the ice-time. I also think he is a decent skater – but it's his shot that I want to see more of (in terms of ice time – not his ability to shoot. Take a look at shot attempts among the top 6 and Robertson and you will see his value). Shot attempts is so important as long as his SOG% is up there – which I believe it is.
800K contract is a steal for a 40 goal scorer. Robertson got robbed!!!! Wonder why the generous Leafs drew the line on him????
I don't think Berube starts JT as 2nd line center. We need another player to step up. JT is a great 3rd line center, and a well below average 2nd line center.
