  1. I'm 50 and a Lions fan. Watched the Bears a ton being in the same division. Mongo now just getting into HOF is criminal. Should have happened decades ago. Glad he's in now.

  2. When I was growing up, everyone wanted to be Walter Payton but when I got to high school football, all the linemen wanted to be Mongo.

  3. 4:34 mark is the undisputed greatest defense ever assembled in the glorious history of the NFL. So glad I was in my prime during the 80's.

  4. I have no idea how it took this long for him to be inducted into the HoF. When you're getting double digit sacks year in and year out as a defensive tackle while playing the run at a high level on a one of the most dominant defenses ever, it should be a no brainer.

  5. Congratulations to the bears to the production staff of this short film unbelievable it touched my heart deeply God bless him

  6. Mongo "havin' some speaks" over the PA with the worst Ump in the history of baseball at a Cubbies game.
No, I dont say his name.

  7. He never quit, there's a lot to learn from that. With a heart as big as Texas Steve gave life all he had. Shoulda, coulda, woulda, I can't never did a damn thing, remember that. Be the best you can be, live your life to the fullest, do unto others as you would have done to yourself. Eat, drink and be merry for tomorrow you may die.
    Rest in peace Mongo.

  8. Pretty sad it took all these years to put this legend in the Hall of fame! Why wasn’t this done sooner? Sad to see such a good man go thru this!

  9. I was so lucky to be able to watch one of the best teams in NFL history. 1985 was a very special year! I loved wathching the Bears beat the hell out of every team they faced. The Raiders of old and the iron curtain in Pittsbutgh did not strike fear in their opponent as much as the 85' Bears. When a punter whiffs becuase he knows he is about to be killed, you know you are hitting on all cylinders! Thanks Mongo for the memories and good bless!! DA BEARS!!!

  10. Rest in peace, MONGO!! Know that there are still opposing players that wake-up screaming in fear thinking of you!

  11. Very Very Long Overdue !!!!!! ….
I can only imagine how his teammates felt kneeling next to his medical bed, because i felt the same type of emotions and i didn’t even personally know Mongo

  12. His relaxing retirement gig was being a 4 Horsemen lol. What a character, what an athlete. Stay comfortable, legend.

  13. Definitely a tough man and elite talent, he certainly deserves to be in the HOF. But he sure got manhandled by Dwight Stephenson (Dolphins HOF center during the Marino years) on the MNF game in '85 in Miami. Dwight was pancaking the fridge so bad the Bears rotated their other great DL players down to nose tackle to work on Dwight and Dwight dominated every player the Bears put over him.

  14. I would love to see a movie about this guys journey in life and football. I think that it is fascinating that it took him to get ALS to get the honor that he totally deserved and that is enshrinement in the NFL hall of fame.
