Alexander Ovechkin is currently sitting at 853 goals which is 41 goals behind Wayne Gretzky’s 894 goals for the #1 spot for goals in NHL history. Will the trades and signings the Washington Capitals made this offseason help bring the Capitals deeper in the playoffs and help Ovechkin score 40 plus goals? Let me know your thoughts in the comment section!

It’s too early to tell on how this season goes
He scores 35 this season and heads into next year at 888 career goals.
I'm sorry to say that Alex has lost more than a step. Last year, they moved him off of the top pp unit. It will take more than this year for him to pass Gretzky. Hopefully, he has enough in the tank to play at least two more complete seasons, or else he will just fall short. I believe he will score less than 20 goals this season.
