I think they have amazing front end talent, but their scorers are made of glass. They have great back end talent, but the scorers back there are made of glass. Are their goalies made of glass?
The rest of the team is built to be super physical, but I don’t think it’s enough to prevent people from beating up on their stars. Infact, I think the physicality of their team puts their scorers in danger.
All in all, I think they'll take the place of the Islanders in the division, I think peope are little too bullish on them. The Rangers have stagnated in a very high position (not a bad thing), and the Hurricanes have lost a little, but their young guys are reaching that prime age and Kochetkov is full starter material.
I think, if anything, the Devils have reached a similar level to the Hurricanes and Rangers at the top of the metro, I think at the end of the day it'll be which team can go without injuries to their essential guys.
I'm ticking at HondaCivic on the left on that chart, it was attempted once or twice in Montreal, did not work too well (albeit with very green youngsters to pair him with). He's the ideal pairing for very mobile guys like Nemec & Hughes though, he will provide the shutdown, the poise & control and the few necessary hits to be the safety net so they can go do their things with full freedom.
