Couldn’t agree more. Sweeney should lose his job over this boneheaded situation. Went from having two elite goalies to fucking korpisalo and an unproven rookie. If Swayman signs a 1 year deal now at this point, he’s DEFINITELY getting shipped out next offseason. The bruins do not mind trading young players who don’t comply with them. Kessel, Seguin, Hamilton, now Swayman. Pastrnak and Mcavoy are the two he’s managed to not piss off. It’s an organization thing with the bruins and they absolutely will not pay a goalie more than 8. Not in a million years when they proved with ullmark that you can take a middling goalie and turn him into a Vezina goalie
I wouldn’t give Sway anything over 4years 6 million a year. He’s been a part-time goaltender. He hasn’t made it out of the second round of the playoffs. Who knows what this kid is going to be if he plays 60 games in one season. 🤷🏻♂️
You can have a goaltender be lights out for two seasons and be a trash panda for the rest of his career. Agreeing to something like an eight year contract is just insane for the goaltending position. The vast majority of goaltenders are absolute mental cases.
The bottom line is this kid is asking for something he hasn’t earned yet. It’s as simple as that. 🤷🏻♂️ I know a goaltender in Las Vegas that earned it.

Bruins would have been significantly over the cap, removing any value in the Ullmark trade, they wouldn't of got a 1st. It was a lose/lose either way.

Boston could have traded for Askorov and let Swayman walk and just start the kid for the season with Korpi as the "1b" option
