Do the Bruins move on from Swayman?

Some good points. I think there is a deal in there somewhere, even if its with another team for one of their top players.

  1. Boston fumbling their entire goalie tandem by trading Ullmark with Swayman still unsigned is perhaps the funniest possible outcome to this whole situation.

Just give him decent money and let Igor break the market

They’re really pulling a Vancouver when Van lost Luongo and Schneider

  4. No, they do not.

They backed themselves into a corner, but they are going to get it done, because they don’t have any other good options.

    Poor Bruins.

They finished last season with the Dynamic Duo of Ulmark and Swayman.

They’ll go into season with the Gruesome Twosome of Korpisalo and Bussi. That’s a Chiarelli-esque feat of management.

The best part though? When that pair beats Toronto in the playoffs this May.

Nah they’ll pay him eventually, just not what whatever reduced price contract they were planning on giving him.

Genuinely cant fucking believe its taken this long, it’s insanely incompetent to kick ullmark out the door without anything in the works with sway

    Pathetic

It seems like a stupid idea to me, but they’ve been on a bit of hotstreak with finding good goalies for a while now, so maybe they’ll be able to do it again.

Swayman hasn’t proven he’s a legit #1 yet. He hasn’t played a full season as a #1, as he was splitting time with Ullmark. Sign him to a bridge deal and let him know if he can handle a full season he’ll get paid. He’s wanting an awful lot of money for only having played a couple half seasons

Not much different from when they traded Hall without having come to an agreement with Bertuzzi last year.

Wants fifty billion a year! The whole league should move on.

Lol, how the hell did they let Ullmark go, without having signed Swayman first?

  13. dollar tree version of TheHockeyGuy is not the influencer/media personality i expected to see cited in this topic!

Swayman is great, but with how unpredictable goalies are, if he really wants $10 mil AAV, yeah, that’s too much. If he agrees to $8 mil, Bruins should do it, but I think $10 mil is too far.

He’s only got 132 NHL games under his belt, and a single season high of 44 games. $10 mil/year goalies normally have a significant track record of killing it with a starter’s workload, Swayman hasn’t shown that yet. Plus there have just been so many goalies who’ve tapered off after a hot start – Theodore, Ward, Bernier, Jim Carey, Raycroft, etc.

He does have a solid shot to be worth this deal, but also a solid shot for it to work out very poorly. Would be quite a risky signing, $8 mil/year feels more like fair market value to me.

Somehow no one talks about his contract arbitration last year. He and Boston already had disagreements about pay, so both parties knew that the future contract negotiations would be difficult. It’s hard to say if it’s Boston who want to sign all their players on team-friendly deals only, or is it Jeremy or his agent who turned out to be tough negotiators. Most likely it’s a bit of both, but ultimately it’s up to the team to make sure their key players are signed.

Also, after a great tandem season with Ulmark I don’t really understand why Boston had to trade him away. They should’ve kept them both, and I’m pretty sure Swayman would agree to a lower deal if they kept his family friend and a team buddy around.

As a fan of a team that is not the bruins I really hope they do
