[Stephenson] Brennan Othmann knows he didn’t play great in his second preseason game last night. “I thought I was a bit sloppy,” he said today. “You can’t really have those type of games in training camp, in preseason. But hopefully I get a few more, and prove that I can still be here.”

Continued:

Othmann, who's fighting a cold or something, said he might have been nervous playing with Artemi Panarin and Filip Chytil. "I've never really played with anyone in that caliber before, so I was a little bit nervous the first few shifts… I was bobbling the puck a little bit.''

  1. Nice to see accountibilty. now work your ass off in the ahl. Show the same fire rempe has shown to improve.

I still see him as an injury call up tho or end of the year call up. Gonna have to improve his 5v5 play.

it’s great to see him owning up to his performance. accountability is key! hopefully he uses this as motivation to step it up in the AHL. excited to see how he grows from this!

He was completely outplayed by everybody aside from Ben Harpur who looked lost.

Just needs more time to cook. We have a lot of great talent.

I mean there has to be SOME concern at this point guys like Edstrom and Rempe have clearly leveled up while Otter seems stuck in at best, neutral

  6. Hopefully he in fact was fighting a bad cold and that’s why. But it certainly doesn’t look like he’s going to make anyone question opening night roster.

In both games I though he got better as the games went on, but struggled with positioning and getting ahead of the play.

The upside was that he made some really nice plays when he DID get the puck, and showed that he’s getting there physically. Laid some really nice hits.

I’d like to see him get more pre-season games, and then probably not make the opening night roster. Give him as much experience as he needs to really understand what it’s gonna take to be a Ranger
