Fantasy or Reality – Leafs will lean on Murray this season

The Maple Leafs have some inexperience and injury concerns in the goaltending department with both Joseph Woll and Anthony Stolarz never breaking 24 starts in a single season. Does this mean Matt Murray might have a bigger role than expected? Will the Canucks be able to survive without Thatcher Demko for an extended period of time? TSN Hockey analyst Martin Biron joins Domino’s That’s Hockey to discuss.

  1. As a Penguins fan, I hope he can find his health again. He legitimately had moments of being a future Team Canada Olympic starter. He's the only goalie in history to lead two Stanley Cup championships as a rookie. I can't begin to imagine how he must feel mentally about the way his career has taken such a downward spiral since he left Pittsburgh. His hopes and expectations of himself in his early 20's must have been through the roof. He must be suffering mentally these days.

  2. When it comes to fantasy or reality, to Biron's claim of the:
    – Leafs' reliance on Matt Murray to get them through the 2024–25 regular season haven't been fantasy, the Leafs will be incredibly stupid to rely on Murray to help them through considering how figuratively-speaking made of glass he has long been
    – supposed need for the Canucks to have Thatchr Demko playing lots of regular-season games, to do very well, having been reality Karma it sure won't be easy to have to play without Demko between the pipes for a huge number of games
    – Sens' expected to see playoff action with Linus Ullmark between the pipes for well over 40 regular-season games having been reality, I'm not so sure considering whatever changes that team's front office has made have yet to result in a post-2017 playoff appearance
