Like JT Mats took heat being the leaf captain. Now people realize what a legend he was.
One of the few to wear #13. Mats was one of the best to wear the blue and white (no disrespect to some of the older legends). He carried that team on his back, and wanted nothing more than to win for Leaf fans. Top class captain who led by example. It's a shame they never quite got the team around him strong enough. Seems familiar huh leaf fans?

I will forever remember his 500th career goal against the Flames in OT. Short-handed, ol' school clapper by the blueline, hattrick goal against Miikka Kiprusoff. What a rocket that was. The ACC went nuts, and so did I. My favorite Leaf by a mile, and I'm not alone.
It's always a good day when we get to see Mats again. My favourite Leaf.
