The B's are not paying him 10 million. If Swayman really stands hard on that number, he'll be traded. I'd fire Sweeney if he paid him that. Swayman is a really good goal tender, is he great? IMO not yet. 6.5 to 7.7 for 4 years.

the Bruins totally brought this on themselves last year letting this go to arbitration..he is the key to success in Boston, he is mentally strong come playoff time unlike Ullmark..they kept the right goalie no doubt..time to pay him now
How has the contracts Swayman's agent negotiated for Krug and Nylander work our for the Blues and Toronto?
Sweeney needs to deal Swayman for a legit LW to play with Pasternak & Lindholm because the 1st line has to score to take the pressure off the other lines so Montgomery can mix & match players until he gets the combos that work.
Sweeney should deal Swayman to Utan for Carlson Lawson. He is 6ft 4 " plays a physical game, can score & play defense. He is at the end of his contract so Sweeney can get a draft pick too. Perfect deal for us.

Swayman is not a 10Mil/year goalie. You need to be shown to carry a team on your back and he's not proven that for more than a few games. The guys with those deals, did it for a playoff run or more. Honestly, I think the 6M range is a decent comp. The bigger issue for Swayman, hes still and RFA. Where most of those other guys were UFA's to get their deals.. he can only talk with Boston. If HE thinks he could get traded, I think he's in for a rude awakening… 1. You need to find a team with the cap space.. and most of those teams… well, suck. 2. You need to find a team willing to pay his number… and by looking at that list.. I don't think there are many.. 3. Boston should sit firm. Jeremy has more to lose by sitting out than to gain. sitting out a year in your prime loses you money. And sitting out, teams won't be lineing up to pay you the bigger number either. Jeremy may hold some cards.. but the Bruins hold all of the best cards.

How does a goalie believe he's gonna get a $10M per year contract when he was making $3.5 avv per year? I can see maybe $6.5M avv but Swayman is smoking some really good stuff!

Don't give him what he's asking. He'll likely get injured or play like shit because he hit the lottery. Seriously first year out on these kinds of deals is always terrible because the player thinks that they're set for life. If they play poorly they get bought out and they have even more years of getting paid. See Rick Dipietro. Bruins should give him 7 million per over seven years. That's what he's worth. The first two years he's gonna play like garbage. We know that. See Ilya Bobrovsky. He still hits the lottery with 7 over 7 but not so much he decides to go crazy with it and the bruins have a chance to win a cup. 10 is just being selfish and he hasn't done what Bob did in Philly and Columbus who was a ufa and not an rfa when he signed that massive deal in Sunrise FLA.

You don't trade one of your star goalies, Vezina goalies at that, for scraps AND not have your other very capable starting goalie signed to an extension.

A good defense will make almost any goalie look good. Bruins will be fine without Swayman. Bruins need more scoring help. Would use Swayman as a chip to get help in that area.
