  1. For me, it’s Sami Salo.

I know that Filip Hronek clocked one at 107.9 and it’s thought to be the 3rd hardest shot ever but it’s still Sami’s shot that comes to mind for me.

    Cheers.

    Not even close, Salo.

But an honourable mention goes to Geoff Courtnall. So many goals scored flying down the wing and unleashing a bomb that ended up in the back of the net.

  3. LonelyEconomist

Salo will win, but honourable mention to Tommy Gun Vanek.

  4. I know everyone is saying Salo but I do have a soft spot for Adrian Aucoin.

  5. Milksteak_Sandwich

Does nobody remember a guy named Adrian Aucoin?

  6. Artistic_Bag_7172

Jiří Šlégr’s wind up for the slapshot! Back when there were no safety nets, fans knew they weren’t just watching the game—they were part of it. Duck or get a puck to the face.

  7. Bubbiesacat

Anyone remember the Yannick Weber special? For a smaller guy he could rip it from the point.

  8. Foxwasahero

An honorable mention should go to Mogilny. If Salo was our artillery, he was our sniper. Top of the circle, laser focused, his head never moved. Shot was in the net before you heard it. Goalie was fully set, waiting for the shot but it didn’t matter.

  9. NO ONE wanted to block a Sami (balls of steel) Salo slapper, players would abandon the goalie and go “all yours bud”. That game winning goal where he pulled his butt muscle will always stick with me, at that point fans could only nod sagely “of course he did” “surprised this didnt happen sooner” XD

I mean, salo was my first thought but I felt that someone would’ve said ehrhoff. Salo has balls of still. Let it be written in the scrolls!

  11. Pattypumpkin

Does nobody remember Adrian Aucoin? He had 23 goals for us and an absolute cannon. How is anyone saying salo and it’s not close?

  12. QuantumZucchini

    No love for Sopel? (J/k)

    Salo all the way.

  13. Federal-Carrot7930

The man who has the most goals in a season by a Canucks defensemen.

Adrian Aucoin 23 goals on one of the worst Canuck teams in history.

  14. leyden138

EP40 has the 4th hardest shot ever recorded at 103.2 mph.

  15. RookieTreasureHunter

Everyone is saying Salo and I won’t be the exception. Particularly remember him faking a move to the bench to lose his cover, then cycling back to receive the set up to fire a cannon on net!

  16. jwheelerBC

Salo is gonna win but I believe Petey recorded a faster shot (103.2) when he won the title at the ASG than Sami ever recorded at a Canucks skills comp.

  17. Fragrant_Art_3659

Anyone remember Jason Garrison? That guy could *rip the puck*

  18. schierke_schierke

    Mr Sami Automatic

Boy, I miss nhl.com’s old pun headlines

  19. Well, looks like Salo is gonna take it, but gotta give a shout out to Petey winning the hardest shot competition at the All Star Game a couple of years ago. As a forward, that’s pretty hard to do. To the best of my knowledge I believe he was the only Canuck ever to win it, so that’s pretty legit

  20. 604_heatzcore

Adrian Aucoin is the first that comes to mind for me.

  21. Respawning

Ok Salo and Aucoin are the most popular here. I would like to say Pettersson should be in contention and has an absolute rocket. Ever since he scored one of his first goals against Detroit its been a weapon.
