  1. When you look at Jarry's splits during the year (Sept to December he is a .920-.930 save percentage goalie, January to April he is a .895-.905 save percentage goalie). Ned is .905-.910 career average but consistent through the whole year. So if I follow just the data sets (which Dubas as a new generation metrics guy would likely)…it would make sense to start Jarry for the first couple of months then switch to Ned because Jarry is pretty horrendously inconsistent in second half of season, whereas he is top tier in the first half, with some years posting a .940 Save percentage in some November or December months. Evident by the All Star team selections by first half of the year success.
Having said that, Ned actually had a really great statistical first half of the year (obviously in much fewer games), maybe even better than Jarry last year. But stats aside, I'm with you, I would start Ned to start the year. I don't know if he is a #1 goalie in this league, he can be a 1B, but Jarry sadly hasn't proven to be a consistent #1 either. So why not change things up and go Ned 1A, and Jarry 1B

  2. Pretty short stuff thier mister…? Like ur longer segments..an the players left jarry out to hang last yr..because jarry is a whiner..so they took to ned..jarry didn't like when a goal went in he blamed the defense, cant do that..they will let him hang his self so to speak…right….yep…

  3. Thank you DK for doing all three daily shots major part of my morning don't know what I do without them

  4. I’ve always said this team didn’t make the playoffs simply because they didn’t take advantage nearly enough of Jarry and Ned what they did the first few months of the season cause we just couldn’t score. The goal scoring at times was putrid!!! It’s something nobody wants to talk about but it’s true.

  5. I'm not sure who was pushing Jarry in 2021-22 (surely not DeSmith) … but he was really good that season: 56 GS, 34-18-6, 2.42 GAA, .919 sv%, finished 7th in Vezina voting. And that was the season immediately following his complete collapse in the playoffs vs the Islanders in 2021. Everyone would take that Jarry … or any goaltender for that matter … for a season.

There is also no denying that Jarry has been really good typically from late Oct until early Jan … then drops off from there. Sometimes a less dramatic drop off like in 2021-22, and sometimes an extreme drop off like we saw last season.

So the prudent approach would likely be to split Jarry and Ned and just treat them like 1a goaltenders. Don't "ride the hot hand" and burn either one out the first half of the season … remember Nedeljkovic has never been good for a full season either.

  6. J1Q: Good morning DK !! Quite the touchy subject for some folks but I have to ask….What is this team’s ceiling for this upcoming year? How high can they go and how will they compare to other metro teams?

  7. Thank you DK, I certainly agree start Ned. While I thought there were some times when he needed a break, I still say come on Alex keep it up. Great show DK
