Jets have like 1-2 more years in decent shot imo, other than that not that many problems with this list tbh. Realistically the flames are absolutely nowhere near getting one in the next 5 seasons

  2. Scissors4215

Yea. It is. Maybe late 2020’s of everything goes great.

  3. natefrost12

New jersey would move down a tier for me. They were an 84 point team last year. I’d also move Vancouver down and Dallas up. Carolina and Winnipeg could also move up to decent shot with Nashville.

  4. treple13

New Jersey and Vancouver in that top tier ahead of Dallas, Colorado and Vegas?

  5. howabotthat

Confirmed. We’re gonna be cup champions this year!

  6. whoMAN_beamYO

LoL why is Vancouver and NJ at the top?

  7. Chemical_Signal2753

I think they’re overestimating New Jersey, Vancouver, and Edmonton while under estimating Colorado, Vegas, Carolina, and Boston.

Almost every team in the “Let’s make the playoffs first” and “Aiming for one in the 2030s” are not realistic bets for 2024-2025 season; and I bet many of these teams will be seen in a very different light by the start of the 2026-2027 season. Teams like Pittsburg and Washington will likely fall off a cliff soon, and most of the teams in the bottom row are a couple off seasons of good luck away from being legitimately dangerous.

  8. saskatchewansealskin

For Calgary, yes. Some of the others I would swap around. Why should Utah be anywhere except the bottom tier?

  9. Jam_Marbera

I would honestly jump Chicago up. If they aren’t competitive before 2030 they are wasting Bedard

  10. FinkBass420

These tier lists are so fucking dumb

  11. Actual_Cobbler_6334

Vancouver in the top tier despite Demko likely missing significant time due to injury and half their roster was on a PDO bender last season? Bold statement.

  12. LegendaryDank

Maple Laffs have to move down to Longshot at best.

  13. uluvmydadjoke

I would say every single team is “aiming” for the cup… just some are way closer than others

  14. TheFifthsWord

With Demko’s injury I’m not even sure the Canucks should be above “let’s make the playoffs”

A bad goalie situation tanks your team. Look at New Jersey last year

  15. darth_henning

    Too high:

    – Jersey – decent shot to long shot IMHO

    – Canucks – definitely a decent shot, but not what I’d expect

    – Utah – should be in the “aiming for the 2030s” imho

    Too low:

    – Penguins – definitley not counting them out, I’d put them as longshots

    – Golden Knights – people are writing them off a couple seasons too early.

    Rest seem fair.

  16. captain_poptart

I like it. Vancouver should be the favourite going into this year

  17. Specialist-One-712

I honestly see us in the second last box. If Conny achieves his plan we should be in the playoffs by 2027/28

  18. ExposedAardvark

As a long time Panthers, Oilers, Sharks, Canucks and Devils fan… I approve of this

  19. SomeJerkOddball

God, how long has Montreal been rebuilding for now?

  20. bloodrider1914

A lot of rebuilding teams are maybe aiming for the late 2020s

  21. sullysmally

Why on earth is NJ and Vancouver there? They should both be in long shots. And Philly should be in the “let’s make the playoffs first” realm. If it weren’t for their collapse in the end last year they would have been a playoff team, and they’ve only gotten better. Barring injuries they should compete. The Metro is going to be scrambly

  22. autocrosser48

I laugh at the leafs being that second tier 😂😂

  23. Yeah, I admit bias, but the Canadiens should be moved up one tier in this list.

  24. ConchordianFlight58

I say this as a Canucks fan, we should probably be moved down one peg

  25. NEVER85

Toronto needs to win more than 1 round in 20 years before they can ever be considered as having a decent shot.

  26. LostInSpeights

Hey, thanks for chucking the Preds in Decent Shot, that’s very kind of you. You might be able to claim that back on your taxes as a charitable donation

  27. codenameduhchess

As a Dallas star fan and with this just popping up on my feed I’m pissed I have the same chance as the leafs. (Aka 0%)

  28. moebuttermaker

I’d flip Colorado/Dallas with Vancouver/New York and Nashville with Carolina. Idk what to do with the Leafs. I think that could be a reeeally good group of skaters. I also think Joseph Will has a higher ceiling than any goalie they’ve used since Andersen at least. He also seems like the surest bet to get hurt, and they could reeeally sink them.

  29. Feeling-Musician6070

    So you’re saying there’s a chance 🍁
