No Way They Actually Let This Happen… Right?

Nhl 2024 training camps are well underway and we’ve been seeing plenty of nhl news in the form of contract extensions , but the boston bruins are in a pretty tense spot when it comes to the jeremy swayman contract extension talks. They acquired elias lindholm and nikita zadorov and still have a solid core of brad marchand david pastrnak charlie mcavoy and.. well swayman so I find it hard to believe they will go with korpisalo/kaskisuo for any period of time. Plus the linus ullmark trade to ottawa and now viral don sweeney press conference the other day, this whole thing is just wild. Nhl boston bruins news today of course i will keep you posted once swayman gets signed. For all things nhl including reaction and breakdowns of highlights , nhl news 2024-25 season , variety and rankings plus more, stay with johnny hawkey. Retire 13 in Calgary and Columbus.

  1. Biggest mistake was trading Ullmark before giving him a contract, now he know they have no choice so he ask big money

  2. Yes, once again Bruins management (primarily Swneey) has mucked up, but Swayman hasn't proven anything yet other than being appointed as the supposed number one guy. Swayman hasn't even played a full season as the number one guy (65 games+). How can you ask for big money if you haven't shown what you can do, maybe he'll crack under the pressure then that would be a complete waste of money

  3. The bruins have been a well balanced team paying players and vets below market value and those players are satisfied. But money does talk not loyalty. The pay me or trade me is what players are doing. Who can blame them. The life span in 12-15 years for good players Anyone and everyone should and would capitalize on these years. Pay me or trade me. Can’t blame him.

  4. Sounds like Swayman knew that with Ullmark gone, he held all the cards. You'd think that the bruins higher-ups would have foreseen this.

  5. Good for Swayman, Boston has always treated their players like crap in negotiations, bridge and long term deals

  6. Every post on every Bruins social media since around June has been plastered with comments about signing Sway and I think rightfully so. I said the Ullmark trade was horrible timing before the Sway deal was done, I think now the plan is see how Korp can man the net and based on his performance they will make the deal for sway if no one else offer sheets him first.

  7. If Ullmark was not traded an offersheet would have been signed by Swayman that Boston wouldnt not be able to match

  8. Considering the Bruins negativity during his arbitration and the Bruins cheapness with this contract, Swayman should sign for 1 year at $6m
and wait for the barrage of teams willing to give him 8 x $8.5m next season. Boston will be left with nothing. Justice.

  9. Everybody is acting like swaymqn is some kind of great goalie..sign him then, Boston obviously realizes he's nothing as special as he thinks he is

  10. Sept 22- as of today, just give swayman the rest of the money. The first preseason game is today and at this point just give him the rest of the 8 million for like 4 years.

  11. Been a lifelong bruins fan, and I agree with the notion that sway hasnt exactly earned it yet, considering the length of his carrier so far, but trading ullmark away pretty much nuked their chances at an even negotiation… and its not sways fault the B's didnt gain any cap in that deal. This is the kind of mishandling that could cost don his job

  12. Bruins lowball Swayman last year in arbitration when they tried to argue he was only worth 2 million. He got 3,4 mil but I think he still resent how they treated him. He's got the Bruins into a corner and I think he's taking his revenge with this negociation.

  13. It was a mistake to trade Ullmark before signing Swayman. They let go all the leverage in the negotiations.

  14. I haven't been following the situation too closely, so I'm not sure what he's asking for, but he shouldn't get any more than vasilevsky (who makes 9.5 per i believe).

  15. Like I get the trepidation in giving him exactly what he's asking as he's yet to handle a full load in net yet. Boston was extremely fortunate to have two amazing netminders and could play them in tandem; so the I guess the fear is if Swayman was the starter does he still have the legs for a long post, (I think that's ridiculous personally), so Boston wants to give him a bridge deal and after that pay him big. Though there is no guarantee they do that. They might again wave a carrot. Whereas Swayman wants to be paid as he feels he's proven himself enough, and since he feels he got burned with Arbitration there's some residual there. Guess the front office was hoping he'd take a "Team Discount" to stay but you can't expect that.

Cap is most likely going up but who knows.

Imagine they end up trading him, and he goes to CBJ since they actually have the money to pay him what he wants. (EA NHL fantasy here lol).

I assume they get him signed in mid to late Oct. I can't see it going longer as Swayman might feel the pressure to play and finally give in, but if that happens it might burn so many bridges it'll be a bad feeling all around.

  16. What’s the over/under on the number of goals Korpisalo allows in a goal before the Bruins panic and cave?

  17. Swayman should get around 8 mill per season for 4-6 years. If he remains stellar during that time then they can up him to 10 mill.

  18. selfish player honestly, if they give him what he wants and he sucks this year then what? he has good stats but that's with him splitting the season we don't know what a full swayman season looks like…….

  19. OMG will these idiots shut up about Swayman leaving or not he not going anywhere the Bruins will get a deal done with him if not they'll just franchise tag him for the Season also Sens still ain't going nowhere this Season either.

  20. As a lifelong Bruins fan and someone who grew up in Boston, please, please don't ever give Felger and Maz any attention. They're fucking mooks who only ever rage bait their audience and are a general cancer in the Boston sports community as a whole. They will always say the most inflammatory shit to drive clicks and engagement.

  21. They had to trade Ullmark, his no trade clause kickin June 30th and no way he would have approved a trade to Ottawa hence a no extension and it's a play out his contact and see and Boston does look at Swayman as the goalie of the future so no choice to trade Ullmark.
