Laffy needs PP1 time. If that means moving Zib to PP2 and then having as much of an even split as possible, so be it, but Laf is a very very big factor in whether we win a cup or not.

Mika and Kreider make their lunch on the PP. Bread is Bread. Laf, Trocheck, and arguably Chytil all deserve some PP time. The only answer is two schemes with balanced time.
Mika and Panarin both play the left wall/point well, so it’s a good thing to split them up. Then it becomes a question of who play net front on the one other than Kreider. Laf and Trocheck are both options for front or bumper. Fil looks like a right wall or bumper player. Smith should be the other right wall player, and boom, 7F for two units. Rotate Jones in as a 2nd D sometimes. Rotate in Kakko or a kid sometimes instead of 2D.
It’s better for the team in the long run to stray from running a PP1 for 1:40 every time. Have two units and aim for 0:45 to 1:15.

I think the system we saw against NYI is the best idea.
Run each of the top two forward lines as their own unit, add an extra forward and defenseman, play them equally

Even split.
I believe a big reason we fall off in the playoffs is our vets are overworked with all special teams

We know that the 1 unit pp is effective, good enough for top 3 in the league. But like any unit it’s prone to slumping. I think they should train with a legit 2 pp line up to switch to when the first stops clicking. Having a diverse range of tools is good strategy especially for a 7 games series.

Brooks is trying to make something out of nothing yet again. It is time to use what we have on the top six or so to put together 2 good PP units.
Who’s 1A? Whoever the coach sends over the boards to start. With 2 Units, you can start one the 1st PP, Start the other the next PP. Can switch that up game to game, period by period or penalty to penalty. Keep the opposition guessing.
Chytil has looked good in the preseason and should be on one unit. Lafreniere should be out in one too. At some point, you can even look at either Edstrom or Rempe out front screening the goaltender. These can always be adjusted;
Tbh, the “right” decision is contingent on ES deployment. If mika a kreids can play less at evens, then keeping the PP as it is makes sense – especially if it means giving more time to laffy’s line.
However, if lavvy isn’t willing to “risk” giving more ES time to laffy, then we’ll need to have a timeshare on the PP.
Personally, I’d rather see Laffy take the ES minutes from mika and krieds to reduce their overall wear and tear and because laffy/filda/trocheck/break all recover more efficiently than mika and krieds do. So laffy’s line should do most of the heavy lifting at evens.

You’ve just gotta keep PP1 untouched and give more time to PP2. 13-24-72-6-79 would be my first group to try.
