Scott Mayfield dropped Filip Chytil in open ice with some leg contact. There was no penalty on the play. Agree or disagree with the non-call? Have your say!
Looks to me like the bodies collided, there was no additional knee/leg extension at all, yes – he got clipped with the leg too, but it doesn't look like a dirty play.
Knee to knee really needs an explicit extension of the knee in order to make the hit. Dropping the shoulder and getting your legs wide is part of the body check.
I think that knee to knee is overblown as dirty when usually players are doing a normal hockey motion and the receiving player tries to jump out of the way.
The fact that the Rangers get so upset about these types of hits yet let Jacob Trouba give free CTE to the entire NHL shows how classless of an organization they are. In fact he tried it again in this game. Mayfield's hit was clean.
I don't see anything that leads me to think Mayfield threw his knee out. As far as the rest of the hit goes, Chytil had the puck, shoulder to chest… totally clean open ice hit imo.

Looked like Chytil was already off balance when the hit was delivered. Didn't look like a dirty play at all.
Mayfield didn't extend his knee to hit, clean hit!
