PK went 7/7 last night vs a Habs starting lineup. The pre-season PK is now 16/16. Solid start.

The Marlies PK is going to be elite this year.

they actually moved for a change. last year they were flat footed and watched as the other team controlled the zone, while they pivoted in the same 12” area, it was so frustrating to watch them allow teams to take their time with zero pressure.

  2. Yeah, it was actually shocking how bad Montreal’s starters looked against the Marlies + Knies.

My main takeaway is that Holmberg is legit, he can be an effective 4C as soon as this upcoming season. He won 62.5% of his face offs and was going up against Suzuki most of the night. A fourth line of Lorentz-Holmberg-Reaves is very strong IMO.

I need to see more film of the regulars but so far I’ve liked how theyve pressured the high players and not just collapsed around the net.

Not sure how much I want to takeaway from the past few games though because the Habs powerplay was shit. Stationary, slow puck movement until they take a poor percentage shot and have it blocked. I talked with some Habs fans the past week and it’s clear their powerplay hasnt been good for 3-4 years and don’t expect it to get better (though I think it will when Hutson gets PP1. He likes to skate and that’ll force the rest of the guys to actually move)

Was it me or were the refs making a lot of soft calls against the Leafs to make up for the 7 minute PP to start the game?

I thought PK was watching with the fans?

Nothing in pre-season counts, except for injuries.
