no need to extend the shoulder, their paths were going to collide. The ranger player just could have stood tall, and rolled out of the contact. They were on a crash course, hard to avoid the contact, but didn't need to give it the extra. 2 mins for interference all day.
it's tough to put myself in his shoes , but how does the NHL work to change the mindset of players to not be so vicious? Please tell me because I'm sick of watching all this violence
