What a fucking nightmare. Its one thing to lose Laine, its another to lose a crucial development year for our 5oa pick from 2 years ago. Also, what is that, like 3 knee injuries for Reinbacher now.

  2. verysadfrosty

Not even longterm. But “very” longterm. It breaks my heart.

  3. JamJam130

I’m seriously gonna have to deal with stupid “durrr injury prone” comments for the rest of my days as a Habs fan

  4. NinjaGoalie97

If true, they’re definitely done for the year. Fuck. This really really sucks.

  5. JohnyZoom

Man Reinbacher injury looked so innocent, it can’t be. Really hope this is just Marinara fishing for clicks

Alright so do we delay our plan for being in the mix for 1 more year or what? slack ’em for Hagens?

  7. Minato_is_God

Devastating for both of them, a 3rd knee injury for Reinbacher before he turns 20 and for Laine it might be almost 2 years without playing a competitive game by the time he’s healthy…

  8. VR46Rossi420

What does Marinaro know about it? He may be correct but he doesn’t know anything more than the rest of us.

Caufield’s comments are damning tho ….

  9. Did he get more information or just talking about what everyone saw on TV?

Last year it was Dach. This year Laine and Reinbacher. What the actual hell. I feel terrible for the players.

  11. douce_abeille

Both injured in a matter of minutes. This really sucks so much.

We were so happy to have Laine, he looks happy to be here. Of course it had to happen.

  12. Feel bad for reinbacher but that pick looks worse every day while michkov lights it up

  13. How reliable is this guy? I’m a little suspicious because they said there’d be no updates till tomorrow and fear mongering among Habs fans is a great way to get engagement

I think the challenge from Hughes’s perspective is that you can’t go into the season having brought so much excitement and lose it in such a brutal way before the season starts without feeling the pressure to do something.

I AM NOT SAYING to trade for Zegras, but if the Ducks were willing to let him go for 21 OA at the draft, we definitely have the assets to go get a top-6 somewhere in the league.

If Laine is gone all year, we have the cap space for a top-6. There’s another 9.6M$ available next year, and 41M$ the year after.

It seems like the specific deal Petry made with the devil in 2021 was for every promising Canadien player that would be aquired later to be built like Samuel L JAckson in unbreakable.

  16. Habs_Apostle

Laine was a gamble, and it really sucks for him and the morale of the team (I’m sure everyone was stoked to have a potential goal scorer of his caliber).

But Reinbacher was supposed to be a core piece moving forward on the back end. This news (and his past related knee issues) casts that into considerable doubt. We will need a defenseman that Reinbacher was projected to be back there. Where do we get that player now? This hurts a lot.

And, seriously, how the fuck in the same preseason game do we lose two important players long term to knee injuries? Like, the odds must be astronomical. WTF is going on?!

    This is beyond depressing.

I wasn’t alive to see the ‘93 cup win. But I was born into this Habs family, and there’s truly nothing I want more in this world than for another Stanley Cup to come to Montréal.

In hindsight it feels like we’re the butt of some sick joke for even starting to believe that we might be on our way towards doing that.

  18. Really shitty news if it gets confirmed. Was so psyched to watch Laine play. I know very little about Reinbacher, so my concern isn’t as high for him.

  19. PaulWesterberg84

on a fucking nothing hit for Reinbacher and from an absolute pilon for Laine, against the Leafs in a pre-season game we should have cruised through but lost meekly lol.

  20. DocGubernaculum

The team needs to release official updates to stop all this speculation

  21. PaulWesterberg84

Season ending injuries to key player/prospect befores season begins….

  22. Independent-Second-1

I’m still in denial. This is all just a big nightmare someone wake me up

  23. Moi qui voulait me remettre à regarder le hockey cette saison… fuck that!

  24. DWatkinsDaBomb

Respectfully, until I hear/read it direct from the Habs, it’s all speculation. I don’t care if all the insiders and team reporters are reporting it, I’m waiting until it comes direct from the team.

  25. CrashTestMummies

I really hope Tony has no insider information and is ridiculed before the end of tomorrow for this

    Sorry Tony

  26. Exciting-Ideal-7899

Marinaro is very reputable but… let’s just wait and hear from the team after they get a scan on Reinbacher and Laine. For those speaking about hopium, I think absolute best case scenario is we see Laine for playoffs dependent on two things, it’s not a torn ACL and secondly obviously if we manage to squeeze our way in for a wild card spot.

  27. Ill-Mountain-4457

Well, gotta hope that one of the prospects in our deep pool really hits, like an Engstrom. Feel terrible for both these players. Not sure Reinbacher will be able to reach his ceiling after 3 knee injuries and may just become a good 3rd pairing guy. Can’t hate on the management for that, or the player. Shit happens. Just happens a lot to the Habs it seems. Sucks so bad. But doesn’t necessarily set the rebuild back of other prospects hit. Opportunity knocks

  28. Odd-Imagination-5148

The lack of on-ice response for both those plays is troubling and it’s a worrying trend going back decades. Mclaren-zednik, brisebois just talks to mclaren, chara-pacioretty, gomezzz just talks to chara, price-kreider, no response. This team does not have a wolf pack mentality like bruins or panthers, they are not a tight knit family, just a bunch of selfish mercenaries and that is all on the captain and his assistants. The pack mentality comes from the players, not the org or the coaches.

  29. ZukesFan14

Might be one of the darkest days in years for the habs, what a fucking nightmare

  30. For every “We’re so back”, there’s a “It’s so fucking over” lurking in the shadows
