The Toronto Maple Leafs got a standout performance from Nick Robertson in what was an eventful victory over the Montreal Canadiens. Mike DiStefano and David Morassutti give their thoughts on the game including the Patrik Laine hit that took him out of the game, the response from Arber Xhekaj and why they think the NHL went light on their discipline for what he did. They move on to the Three Stars of the Game looking at Robertson showing up in a big way, Dennis Hildeby having a solid pre-season and a couple of other players who were a standout. Mike and Dave end the show looking at the new lines in practice with cuts incoming, William Nylander and Max Domi splitting centre duties and an overcrowded bottom six forward group awaiting decisions.

Good morning from San Jose California
Does St. Louis, take the blame for sending him out there?
Why is nobody addressing the fact that Liane has his leg sticking straight out, awkwardly, while trying to split 2 defenders? Players have to take some accountability for their own safety.
Im glad wifi didnt get suspended. Now Reaves can settle the score first game of the year.
Looks like when Tavares is back Homberg moves to 4C and David Kampf can find a one way ticket to Area 51
the guy is 6'4 he turtled big for nothing
It's literally a rule to not punch people with your gloves or your suspended so. But you know this league. Marchand can push refs and Jackoff can jump people with hos gloves on 2 blatant rule breaks and it's all good. Can tell this seasons gonna be fun.
George Perros is a freaking moron! Hoe that guy is head of player safety is beyond me. He has no problem going after first time offenders 😂😂
He’s still pissy a Leaf ended his career
Laine, tried to spit the dmen. Pare did not move at all or stick out his leg, Laine came to him. He never moved his leg, i dont know what people are seeing. Watch the play again, that one is on Laine. I feel for the guy, but he ran into Pare, and Pare did not move or stick out his leg, he just stood his ground.
Nick Robertson better have a main role this season and in the playoffs. We need more than Matthews and Nylander to score goals.
Fines don’t work. Suspensions don’t work. How about criminal charges? I bet that would put an end to it.
Laine tried to coast through two guys with a 4 foot wide stance. He put himself in a vulnerable position and Pare simply leaned into him. Hell, JT got kneed in the first game by a Habs player and nobody jumped him from behind.
Those are pretty decent even without JT and Jarnkrok. I like the 4th line. And Holmberg swapped for JT.
But I heard the knee on knee was not done in purpose. Does anyone know the truth about that accident
Saros can never get anything right – he has been hit in the head too many times and his suspensions are never the same for the same offence player safety is a joke
At one point Holmberg was 10 and 5 in faceoff vs the Habs in the 2nd game.
