Are The Bruins and Jeremy Swayman Close to Finding a Resolution?

Are The Bruins and Jeremy Swayman Close to Finding a Resolution?

On Tuesday’s edition of Zolak & Bertrand, the guys reacted to a report from Frank Seravalli detailing that the Bruins and restricted free agent Jeremy Swayman, may be closer to a deal then most people think. Bertrand makes the case that this is good news, and that the two sides may be able to find common ground.

  1. JUST to be clear… you and no one knows what the original offer was from the Bruins. According to their claims yesterday, it sounds like they never "low-balled"

  2. Why not start at 6mil a year for a goalie who still hasnt proven himself or even played a full season yet. Playing with fire even giving this guy 8 years.

  3. Cam’s right…

They have a kid who’s never played more than 44 games. Yeah he looks good but with a vezina winner as a tandem. Who by the way was on 5m

So they commit to him and double his contract offering max term and more money than the vezina winner they had.

So it could be as simple as they think he’s worth 6 -6.5 and we’re shocked that he thinks he’s worth 8.5.
And as such are now like wtf as they’ve come up to 8 from 6 and he won’t budge at all.

And they’ve been made out to be the bad guys.

  4. 6 million a year is generous for a goaltender who has achieved nothing. I’d rather have them trade him over giving him 8 million a year. I’m tired of underachieving goaltenders eating up cap space.

  5. I’m sorry, but this is ridiculous. This kid is not worth 8 million a year. He’s not worth $8 million for eight years. The notion is absurd.

  6. You got guys in the league like Corey Crawford, who are making 8 million a year who have already won Stanley Cups. Swayman is not worth this money. I hope they trade him, we could do something way better with this money

  7. Trade him please. He is not worth the headache. He’s holding out over 4M? Trade him. In fact lower the offer now.
