I understand the trainer’s desire to shield the team and he probably has instructions, but fuck the fuck off.

This behaviour from McDavid, if I was a player on his team, it would only achieve the opposite of the result he wants. Because I would probably already be trying my hardest, knowing this game matters and I want to win it, and I’m failing, here is this guy yelling at me, like if I’m not trying hard enough, but he’s the best player in the league, so, obviously for him his success or failure is a lot to do with effort.
This would not make me wanna play for him. It would make me lose inspiration. It would make me feel like the cup is for him, and if he’s gonna be a bitch, I won’t win it for him sort of deal.
It would for sure make me play worse, with less enthusiasm, and less motivation. But that’s just me. Everyone is different.
I always thought of him as a very calm person. I would never have guessed he’d be telling like this to his team. Like, this was a full on yell.
EDIT: I mean you can downvote me all you want. I’m just stating my opinion about how this would affect ME. So, I can’t say I understand the downvotes. If you think this would motivate YOU go ahead and make that comment. I don’t see how that fact invalidates how it would affect ME.

Hockey player is a hockey player. Body language of a 4 year old tho.

Who’s gonna dig in when mcdavid is having a breakdown and whining like a child here, voice cracks and all? I think he learns from this and becomes a better captain in the room after this series is put on display. In interviews he doesn’t seem too impressed with the series… I wonder why…

I hadn’t heard of this series until right now I’m stoked this is coming out tomorrow. Also as a kings fan, I know I’m not supposed to like the oilers but they’re fucking rad and this makes me like Mcdavid even more. The passion in his voice is palpable. I’m bummed the oilers took us out first round in the playoffs and bummed the oilers went on to lose to fucking Florida. This series looks rad.

Would like to have seen other great leaders in these situations. Messier, Yzerman, Sakic…

This is the epitome of a captain. Inspiring his teammates to victory by giving them tough love. If you’ve ever been on any sort of team you would know that sometimes you genuinely need something like this to shake the foundations and wake you the fuck up.
