That means forwards are set but it doesn’t math for the defense. They had 11 D on their last official training camp roster release. So if one is assigned and another waived, that leaves 9 and not 10 like the article states. Which if you only have one extra forward that leaves space for two extra defense, meaning an opening night roster with 8 D. So if they actually only have 9 D after the two cuts, then the last spot would presumably go to either Del Gaizo or Molendyk. I don’t see why they wouldn’t let Molendyk marinate in juniors for this year, so that would mean Del Gaizo is the 8th D man and the roster is essentially set? Is there something I’m missing here?

Molendyk cracking a great roster with a ton of d man options as a 19 y/o would be insane. Dude should be extremely proud regardless of what happens.

Molendyk deserves at least 9 games to see how he can compete in the show, really think he can become one of the top defenders in this team with the right coaching

After watching Molendyk in the preseason games, I believe he deserves a trial period. He should absolutely start picking Josi’s brain about playing defense. He’s got the skates to play a Josi style game.
