It’s the midway point of training camp, and suddenly, the battles are on. We catch up with 2024 second-round pick Andrew Basha, as he puts on quite a show in his final preseason appearance in Abbotsford. The day after, he learns he’ll be going back to junior to continue honing his craft. 2024 first-rounders Matvei Gridin and Zayne Parekh get the same news – but, similar to Basha, their performances over the past few weeks have Flames management excited about the future.
As camp rolls on, it’s become clear that two forwards, in particular, have turned heads. So, we put a mic on Sam Honzek and Adam Klapka to capture their experience on the ice – and some of the standout moments that have already endeared themselves to the C of Red.
The Chase for that coveted roster spot continues!

Klapkas a beauty lol
god Conroy and Huska just seem like such genuine dudes. I am excited for the strong core we will build with these two at the backbone of that. Absolutely loving this series so far.
This series slaps!
Huska is such an eloquent speaking coach, very knowledgeable, and understands how current era players should be treated. He’s going to be an NHL head coach for a very long time.
