0 chance. That is just another nhl broken promise to az. just like all the other broken promises made by or on behalf of yotes. Yotes had a nice arena in glendale and blew it. nhl-just go away forever.
In all fairness, saying that the Mullet Arena is worse than the one at the University of North Dakota is not a shocking statement.
The Ralph Engelstad Arena is better than a good handful of some NHL arenas. The facilities and what's available to the players is top notch!
I'm not a big fan of Spittin Chiclets, but they do have a great tour video of the Ralph that was posted recently. It's a 20+ year old arena that still looks like new!
😂🎉 NOT 🚫 ANOTHER MORMON CHURCH CULT MEMBERS OF UTAH NHL HOCKEY 🏑 LEAGUE EXPANSION TEAM AND FAMILY SIR BROTHER 😂 SIR ON FACEBOOK TWITTER AND INSTAGRAM BROTHER SIR DUDE 😎😂 DURING COVID-19 BROTHER SIR!!!!!😂🎉🎉🎉🎉!!!!
FYI… The Ralph at University of North Dakota is an amazing facility…from a fan perspective it’s better than a bunch of NHL arenas… and the playever facilities are truly top notch.
I'm sorry, but after nearly 30 years, multiple owners (including the NHL) and yes, multiple arenas, it is ridiculous the NHL would (a) go right back and (b) do so by way of forced expansion.
I don’t care if the previous owner retained the rights to the logos colors & uniforms they won’t get an arena and won’t be on the slated expansion the NHL wants to do which i think they are fine at 32 teams.
Not likely from what i can tell. So i looked into this, but past ownership is really to blame. Listen, to anyone that has a business or knows how this works. They literally just pushed everything off until the last minute with no long term strategy or pay off. No wonder theyre moving. Given more time and planning, scottdale couldve worked, but they completely ruined the relationship with the fans there. I dont see it happening again. You have to have a longterm business plan. They were only interested in throwing a bandaid on an open wound that still needs closed.
Quebec built a new arena why don't they have a team?? Now the Coyotes know how Nordiques Whalers and Thashers fans feel Quebec should get a team before phoenix
1) Why would Coyote ownership take the risk that they don't get an expansion team?
2) What makes the NHL think Arizona would be more willing down the line to help the same owner they won't help now?
3) Why wouldn't Ryan Young just put in for the expansion team?(This one, I get, since asking for expansion would mean more competition for that team from cities like Atlanta, Houston, Quebec, etc, but it would also give them more time to brand their new team and build a new NHL/NBA quality arena)
Great, there are more deserved untapped market in USA, if they want to tap the former market might as well go to Canada like QC
USA expansion teams better be in an untapped market like Houston and KC, former market like Atlanta might be better as a last resort and/or the market itself put an effort on getting team
Even Thrashers fans had a save the Thrashers rally. I mean the Habs fans had a 50 man rally just to resign Alex kovalev in 2009. If u Coyote stans can’t cobble together a few dozen fans for a rally then lol.
I think things will get worse if this Coyotes team moves to Salt Lake City and wins a Stanley Cup trophy in the next few years. The Arizona fanbase will not only be enraged that that trophy should have been won in the city, but the former owner will not be welcomed back to the city and have a new team start from scratch.
Winnipeg waited 15 years for a new team (1996-2011)
I get that Phoenix is one of the top ten largest cities in America (10th – 4,845,832 population).
I also realize that Houston (5th – 7,149,642 population), and Atlanta (6th – 6,104,803 population) are larger than Phoenix and also don't have NHL teams – those are the cities in the South Phoenix is competing with to get an expansion team.
I personally feel a 2027 or 2028 date is impossible as of today.
Phoenix has no arena.
– The starting bid for land starts at $68.5 million (therefore, the closing bid will be MUCH higher)
The renderings proposed were for an area, practice facility, hotels, restaurants, a casino etc.
– the price tag for the arena is approximately $500 million
– the price tag for the entire district was approximately $3 billion
The parcel of land for auction – North of Loop 101 on border of Scottsdale Road has:
– no existing infrastructure
– no water rights
– no sewage system built
– no road access
Therefore the total cost to build will ACTUALLY be higher than $3 billion – you still need to build sewage systems, roads, and acquire water rights…those were not included in the $3 billion proposal.
Between 2013 and 2022 the Arizona Coyotes have lost more money than any other team in the NHL – $115.2 million in losses.
The Arizona Coyotes are a net loss team since 1997 – meaning the team overall LOST money over the past 28 years – they didn't generate money.
As of April 2024 Alex Muerelo's net worth was estimated at $2 billion.
– land $68.5 million
– arena $500 million
– district $3 billion
– PLUS YOU NEED ROADS, SEWAGE, WATER RIGHTS….so not $3 billion – actually quite more than $3 billion…..
– plus you need to BUY a expansion team (probably $1 billion minimum)
The last NHL team to sell was the Ottawa Senators for $950 million – the Arizona Coyotes are allegedly being sold for $1.2 billion.
So….$4,068,500,000
Four Billion, Sixty Eight Million, Five Hundred Thousand – would realistically not be enough money to build this district.
How is a team that lost $115.2 million dollars ever going to recoup those losses???
The team was overall at a net loss for 28 years – so realistically how many years would it take to recoup $3 billion?
One of the lower valued teams – Columbus generates about $30 million a year in profit.
$30 million x 100 years = $3 Billion
$30 million x 135 = $4,050,000,000
Still not enough to pay for the district and expansion team….
I think this Coyotes ownership group had no money they didn't pay for anything it sounds . Remember when Islanders of the 90's didn't have money Disney plus had a special on it a nice watch . The Utah Yeti is a great name but i kind of like the Utah Wendigo
Arizona is full of fair weather fans. Yes the owners suck, but let's not pretend the fans aren't part of the blame. I don't think the NHL is ever coming back to Arizona
The coyotes will definitely get an expansion team. Alex Muerlo would be a fool to not take advantage of that five year option. He then needs to own the team for only another five years before he can CASH IN. He’s a business man, he’s going to make it happen for the $$

I prey to god the NHL doesn’t make another mistake by giving Arizona an expansion team. JUST GIVE QUEBEC CITY ITS TEAM BACK
If Salt Lake messes this up and doesn't go with 'The Stormin' Mormons' imma be pissed.
They were last in attendance when the team was contending

Definitely "erroring" on the side of something.
People keep saying the phrase Coyotes fans im over here just wondering who the fuck are they talking about
Utah has two professional teams. The Jazz and Real Salt Lake (MLS)
I don’t care if the previous owner retained the rights to the logos colors & uniforms they won’t get an arena and won’t be on the slated expansion the NHL wants to do which i think they are fine at 32 teams.
Hmm..a group that got evicted, don't pay their hotel bills…I vote NO..
NHL is not excited moving from market with 6million to 1.5 million market in SLC.
I am so Sad for Arizona Coyotes
Phoenix will be NHL Team number 33 and should put a team in the Eastern Conference for number 34 maybe Atlanta,GA,Hamilton,ON or Quebec City.
If anyone dared outbid on the land auction from getting team again to Arizona they will be hated pariah.
Atlanta-and-Houston-get-them

They don't deserve an expansion team no more NHL in Phoenix
Our WHL team draws better than the Yotes
Quebec built a new arena why don't they have a team?? Now the Coyotes know how Nordiques Whalers and Thashers fans feel Quebec should get a team before phoenix
It's not gonna happen. This owner is kind of a goober. Hockey is dead in the Grand Canyon State.
I have so many questions;
So, yeah……
Houston, Quebec and Atlanta should get a shot at an expansion team before Arizona.
If they failed the land auction, zero chance
Great, there are more deserved untapped market in USA, if they want to tap the former market might as well go to Canada like QC
USA expansion teams better be in an untapped market like Houston and KC, former market like Atlanta might be better as a last resort and/or the market itself put an effort on getting team
Imagine if the new Winnipeg Jets were to move to Phoenix?! Oh God would that suck so badly! 😂 L.O.L.!
Even Thrashers fans had a save the Thrashers rally. I mean the Habs fans had a 50 man rally just to resign Alex kovalev in 2009. If u Coyote stans can’t cobble together a few dozen fans for a rally then lol.
Think I found the source for Chilla's ai voice
So many cities more deserving than Phoenix. In no particular order
Quebec City
Houston
Atlanta
Hartford
Hamilton
Cleveland
Kansas City
Milwaukee
San Diego
Portland
Orlando
Indianapolis
Cincinnati
Baltimore

To be fair North Dakota’s hokey stadium looks sick

If it's not Meruelo's ownership, the NHL will put at 1st priority ahead of Québec, Atlanta, and Houston.
Its over for nhl in Arizona owner sold team in utah
Next five year if phoenix build new arena they can back coyotes
This looks a lot like Brooklyn circa 1957
