  1. RE: Laine-Barré collision. HabsFanSez Barré was standing still at the blue line for not apparent reason. He wasn't skating backwards to stay with the rushing forwards, he was just parked there. That was probably a bad decision due to inexperience and/or bad hockey sense. He then reacted to Laine going by him. It looks like an unbroken chain of bad decisions, it did not look like a malicious hit.

  2. Molten hot take: I’m willing to lose half a season to a lockout in a couple years if it ensures Vegas doesn’t keep getting cap-related breaks. It’s within the rules… so make sure that it isn’t. Seems simple. Devils got hosed after the full season lockout, it’s been done before.

  3. Yes it’s pre-season and EDM had an AHL goalie, but Wright scoring two goals against a mostly NHL EDM roster was promising…

  4. Shannon, I would love to hear your take on the "preseason games aren't necessary" debate. There's obviously a lot more to consider than the unfortunate injuries…

  5. I do have to agree with Laine. Been saying that it was Pare's weight bearing leg.. but I have loved how many announcer types have said that an experienced defender would have been flat-footed there…. Um, wait, I've played a few different sports.. and being caught Flat-Footed has NEVER been a good thing. It looked like a good defensive play… just an unfortunate accident that Laine leg was sticking out from the cutback and hyperextended on impact… I hope he gets back soon. He's had enough bad things to this point.

  6. Good on Laine to come out and say it's on him and not Pare, I was of the same mindset. Unfortunate yeah but a total accident as well. And hats off on Pare to apologize after the game.

  7. Pare got split didn't like it stuck out his leg. Cool Laine said different but as a fan and an occasional player it looked purposeful. But hey . It's over who cares. But I watched a guy intentionally flying knee Kaprizov and he said the same thing . Soooo .

  8. The thing people want to ignore on the Lehner situation, Vegas had every right to end their contract with Lehner when he did not show up for his Physical. Lehner was not going on LTIR no matter what because he would have to have the physical to get out on LTIr so this works out good for him. He still gets paid when legally he should have been cut and got nothing based on the contract and NHL rules.

  9. You know if Lehner played on a Canadian team his salary would count against the cap (it would count for double if Gary had his way)

  10. Lehner doesn't even get to keep all 5 mil, part of the settlement agreement is that something like 50% of that amount is going to the entities he owes money to. (Rightfully so)

  11. Lol hockey players play hockey and do there job idiot media people with no clue are the problem with hockey They make something out of nothing and drive new hockey fans away from the game idiot media people should be held accountable

  12. If Lehner was on Vancouver this wouldn't happen. But all the best to him, always liked him when his game was on.

  13. Lehner’s assets are frozen because he was gambling, buying luxury items, and not paying the creditors in his bankruptcy. So “he” isn’t exactly going to be getting his salary now anyway.

  14. Well hopefully laines comment will silence all the habs fans making their fanbase look completely foolish calling it intentional and some even calling for a retaliatory injury. Probably not tho

  15. Now I see why Lehner didn’t show up for his mandatory medical check up. Vegas just decided that he wasn’t able to play and put him on LTIR to once again circumvent the salary cap.

  16. When he was with the islanders he did a good job getting clean. what i dont understand is why, knowing that you have a history of substance and alcohol abuse. Why the hell would you go live in vegas??? thats a really stupid move. Vegas is rampant with drugs and alcohol.

  17. Not trying to be ugly towards Lehner I loved him when he was an Islander and I am sympathetic to his personal battles, however I think it’s excessive that he receives a full $5 million salary since he isn’t playing. Surprised he isn’t getting a reduced salary like most people who are out on disability which is what it seems to be with Lehner.
