The New York Rangers have ended their 2024 preseason with a record of 4-2 after finishing their final game against the New York Islanders. Rangers will begin their 2024-25 NHL season with a game against the Pittsburgh Penguins on October 9th.

Fox has been turning pucks over all preseason. Really hope he dials it in on opening night.
Brutal
Too much puck watching in the D-zone, instead of focusing on where the opponents are & that was so evident on the Horvat PP goal. I know Jones is very good offensively, but the way Tsiplykov drove past him to the net highlights why he can be a liability in the D-zone. Mancini needs to get 4-5 games to see how he fares, but I love his stellar play in the D-zone where it is most needed.
Definitely hard to tell with the preseason game however, I will say that this will not be the team that gets us to the Stanley Cup. Either we’re gonna take more time or moves are coming. That’s a reaction in general over the last season and the beginning to the preseason. We do not have a young star that is going to make a difference on this roster. We don’t you can kid yourself and talk about one guy or the other but the truth is we have decent talent that will blossom in the next 5 to 6 years and role-players. We don’t have any stars coming up the pipeline. So it will definitely be interesting to see what the general manager does this year if we believe we can win the cup because I could honestly see us removing a few of those kids for one or two guys that help us for one or two seasons right now.
This team cannot rely on Igor saving 35 to 40 shots per game. I’ve been saying it for 18 months that they need to fix their defensive pairings. It’s nice to have offensive defensemen but you can’t have 2 offensive defensemen pairings like fox and jones. Coach needs to figure it out before we get embarrassed
