NJ did not offer Labanc a contract I am SHOCKED. I am happy that Labanc got a contract. So if you sign a PTO another team can offer you a contract? Labanc was misused on the sharks and hopefully the jackets play with guys who actually are good enough for the NHL.
Addison being released by the sens shocks nobody. The sens are instantly better.
If I was a NJ Devils fan I would be kind of annoyed losing Labanc when just a 1 year min contract would be all it would have cost.
Addison will likely be picked up. The guy was getting his game to NHL levels 2 seasons ago with 35 pts or so, he's definitely still a good prospect when it comes to an offensive dman/pp quarterback. But the Wild traded him to San Jose last season, where nobody really produced, can't blame him, he was likely was paired with somebody as young as he is or some AHL/NHL veteran. GL to him.
Pittsburgh waiving Ludvig is surprising, I saw him as a probably mainstay in their bottom pair of defense, he's big and his checking is brutal and isn't that slow of a skater, not surprised Avs picked him up, they no longer have Jack Johnson or Erik Johnson to fill in that role.
All the Devils need to win the President's Trophy and break the Bruins' points record is play Buffalo for the rest of the season. When it looks like there finally might be a chance for someone in their division to take the next step and move into the playoffs for the first time in years, Buffalo picked a heck of an offseason to make the team worse. If they lose Peterka for an extended period of time they may as well start booking their spring vacations.
Said yesterday I was afraid Ludvig wold get claimed. While he's not exactly Scott Stevens, he is a serviceable, physical defenseman. Just had issues staying healthy. But with St. Ivany and Brunicke challenging for a spot, there wasn't much room for him is Pittsburgh. I just hope Graves improves, because he's been an anchor since coming to Pittsburgh.

I’m curious what Seattle is doing. They don’t have the cap space to keep wintertime up without waiving another or trading someone, but they could’ve kept a league minimum player and if they do trade someone they could’ve kept both up. Are they going with 20/23? Why would they do that?
