Waiting to watch the meltdown in here if this is to make space for Watson instead of Kasper

  2. “No way he doesn’t get claimed”

    ^(Please?)

  3. EconMan

This is a good move considering the sunk cost, but also unfortunate that it occurs only a year into the three year contract. There’s been too many longer term contracts that have turned out to be negative value.

OUR PRAYERS HAVE BEEN ANSWERED BOYS.

How does his salary work if heā€™s in the AHL? Ainā€™t no one claiming this dude lol.

  5. wellpaidscientist

WHY DID THEY EVER SIGN HIM? So odd.

    Oh happy days

  7. OctoWings13

Absolutely needed to happen. Dude is just WAY too far down the depth chart

  8. oceanic8675

This is correct. No bad feelings towards him, but itā€™s time.

  9. Aezetyr

Well that is certainly a move. A welcomed move. Best wishes to Holl I do hope he can have some success where he is… San Jose? uuhhhhhh okay then.

  10. The_ManWithNoName

Honest opinion but donā€™t guys think we need an upgrade on our pro scouting department? We have many way too many bad FA signings.

  11. No_Pineapple_4609

They should just buy him out. Give the man his dignity so he can sign somewhere at league minimum.

  12. smilingasIsay

I just don’t get why we signed him in the first place, or why we signed him for as long as we did or for how much. He wasn’t considered any good in the first place. He was the worst defenseman on a team with bad defensemen.

  13. Late_Brush4518

Fiiiiiiinaaalyyyyy! Sooo cap dump or buyout next OS?

  14. It would be nice is he gets claimed by San Jose. That will make the Walman trade make sense.

  15. Big-Experience1818

I really don’t understand how the Walman trade makes any sense at all

  16. Neifje6373

Weird contract the moment it was signed. He was awful in Toronto

  17. daveathor

This was always the most likely outcome when Kasper played so well. 13 forwards, 7 defencemen, 3 goalies.

  18. Flatrock

The best thing he did for Detroit was cockblock Edvinsson from keeping #3 (boring) and forcing him to take #77 (much cooler)

  19. Responsible_Joke_971

Someone else made the roster. Kasper?

  20. detroitttiorted

Steve has never shown a hesitation to dump players. In a place where people trust him a lot Iā€™m not sure why anyone is surprised

  21. The last 2 offseasons have been an absolute utter failure.

  22. Jeez-essFC

Now if Husso keeps playing as well as he did in pre-season, maybe someone will take on that contract. Although, Lyon is far and away the most tradable.

  23. non_target_eh

I would be VERY VERY surprised if he gets claimed.

  24. Shotokanguy

Even if I don’t want him on the roster, it’s still an “oof” when you see it happen

  25. AndyJobandy

Fuck me. My hat has only wahlmam and Holl on it.

  26. Imaginary_Ad5994

Feel bad for him since he seems like a really good person and itā€™s not his fault they offered him too much. But also donā€™t feel bad since heā€™s making that money.

Really doubt anyone will take him especially with two years. The only hope looking through capwages briefly might be San Jose (please be part of the Walman deal) and Chicago is low on right shots. But again highly doubt theyā€™d want him

  27. SikkWithIt

Buh-bye. Needed to happen. Especially with the young guns showing what they bring to the table in the preseason. Time is now!
