So we only have $2.85 left after Nuke is back, and need to fit in Landy's roughly $7m? I don't think sackfarland would put themselves in a situation where they have to clear $5m mid season. So either I'm reading this wrong or they aren't planning to activate Landy until playoffs…?

I bet you anything that Nichushkin is gone within a week of his return. He’ll get to showcase that he can still play hockey and then they’ll ship him to an also-ran so he won’t have to worry about feeling the pressure of playoff hockey. I’ll always appreciate what he did for us in ’22 but the clubhouse response to his fuckup last year was pretty damning. There’s no way he’s earning their trust back when it matters. I think that relationship is fractured beyond repair.
This is a low-risk situation for the Avs. If he screws up again, his contract will enter the official termination territory. If he succeeds, Avs get a top five two way player back who statistically helps the team win by an incredible margin; the guy is a difference maker.
