Florida Panthers Coach Paul Maurice Talks Hurricane, Stanley Cup Ring, Banner and Opener v Boston



Florida Panthers coach Paul Maurice spoke after his team’s final practice before the start of the regular season on Monday, Oct. 7, 2024.

Florida opens its season on Tuesday, Oct. 8, against the visiting Boston Bruins in Sunrise.

The Panthers will get their Stanley Cup championship rings on Monday — and will raise their Stanley Cup banner before Tuesday’s game.

On June 24, the Panthers beat the Edmonton Oilers 2-1 in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final.

Florida took a 1-0 lead in the first on a goal from Carter Verhaeghe off a sharp pass from Evan Rodrigues.

Tied at 1 in the second, Dmitry Kulikov swept away the puck from an empty net — and Sam Reinhart scored on the ensuing rush.

The rest was up to the Florida defense which clamped down on the Edmonton offensive — with the help of some stellar goaltending from Sergei Bobrovsky.

  1. Paul one of the few coaches who talks about the game itself. Most coaches speak vague platitudes about their club.
