Hell yeah. Thought Rifai had a decent chance to be claimed but it helps to send him down on the day everybody gets sent down. He’s definitely better than some players currently on NHL rosters.

Lowkey important depth players to keep, glad both cleared. Hildeby could be a good #3 but I’d rather not rush him in the event of an injury, and Murray is a good veteran to have around. Rifai might just be our #7 by the New Year if he keeps playing well as he did in preseason

Low key was pretty important for murr to clear, entirely possible we see him play with the leafs for an extended period if either will or stolarz (knock on wood) can’t handle the increased work load this year

Happy to see Murray stay. The guy is only 30. I’m hoping the year off has allowed him to properly heal physically and mentally.
Is he somebody you want to bank your season on? Absolutely not. But our 4th string goalie is only 30 and has 50 NHL playoff starts. I’ll take it.
Between Woll, Stolarz, Hildeby and Murray the Leafs have four legit darts to throw at the board. That’s all you can really ask.
This could be the year where goaltending is a genuinely positive area and not just average.

That extra two years Treliving gave Rafai scared teams off I would suggest. Nobody wants to take on an unproven defenceman for three years.

Just nice to have this peace of mind going into the season about depth. I’m still pissed about the McElhinney/Pickard year when both didn’t get through waivers and we had to scramble mid-year to acquire others for better depth (IIRC that’s how Garrett Spark ended up getting rushed/overused)
