Cheers to the people crying in the other thread that we waived Holl to have Watson as a permanent guy on the team instead of Kasper, who will get recalled soon.

best time to waive him is when everyone has rosters set. don’t think anyone is claiming him after they have an opening night roster and he is a ahl/nhl tweener

Very weird. I want them to call up Kasper but at the same time I would rather him get 1st line minutes in GR than 4th line minutes in DET.

I’m so cornfused right now, someone explain this move please

But the doomers in the discussion thread told me this wasn’t going to happen

Basically, he’s specialized tool that you bring to games against teams that need to be kept in line. Otherwise, he’s waiting in the wings in GR

From his interviews I thought GR wouldn’t be an option for him. Glad he changed his mind, because even if you don’t like the idea of him in Detroit, the idea of him protecting prospects in GR is great.

This doesn’t even mean that he is sent down, it just gives them a window to send him down pre cleared. More likely to clear now than after teams have injuries.

This allows for flexibility of roster moves. Holl has already cleared waivers, and now Watson will likely clear. So then for the next 30 days, if Steve decides to send one or both of them down for any reason, they have already cleared and do not have to do it again before going to Grand Rapids.

Oh great, he’s blocking youngsters again. It should be a drafted and developed skilled prospect being waived, not some bottom feeder!
