A recent Flames big issue seems to be the inability to develop younger guys at the NHL level. Seems like they think AHL turns them into NHL stars, rather than putting them in the NHL to get used to the NHL game and develop there. Lots of talent seems to have been missed recently. Yeah a 10 year old vet will outplay a youngster, but that youngster will be better than that vet in 1-3 years playing the NHL game.

I think keeping Hanley is more about not having too many veterans in the AHL taking time away from prospects and less about wanting him on the NHL team. A problem they created themselves by signing Barrie.

Solid show fellas! I was worried for hueby that he would lose his son Pelts. Hopefully he can tighten those boot straps and work back to the line up now that he knows noone wants him he needs to work that much harder. Builds character or some bs right?
