if the NCAA vote passes and all goes smoothly that’ll be sick.
If the Leafs pay Tavares more than $10 million over 2 years they will have lost the negotiations. He is on the slippery slope of the decline curve and accelerating.

With the core four increasingly dominating the payroll, it’s very difficult to build a well rounded championship lineup. ✔️
Leafs would be better positioned if they even traded Tarvares for nothing in return as long as the recipient team takes all his salary cap.

The Leafs should give Taveras whatever he wants as the Leafs revolutionary top heavy roster construction is obviously leaps and bounds above the rest of the league. The Leafs just need to beat this dead horse for another 5-10 years and the league will see what success looks like. Or more than likely nothing will change, but it will be very entertaining to watch a organization believe their geniuses while the rest of the league has a good laugh at it.
