You absolutely CANNOT do this to an official

In the season opener between the Boston Bruins and Florida Panthers, the Panthers secured a 6-4 victory, kicking off their Stanley Cup title defense. The Panthers jumped out to a quick start, scoring four goals in the first period, led by Sam Bennett, who netted two. Sam Reinhart and Evan Rodrigues also contributed with a goal and an assist each. Despite Boston’s efforts, with goals from Pavel Zacha, Charlie McAvoy, Trent Frederic, and David Pastrnak, they couldn’t overcome Florida’s early lead. Joonas Korpisalo was in net for Boston, making 29 saves, while Florida’s Sergei Bobrovsky stopped 24 shots

  1. Not even 1 second in.

    I am a Bruins fan.

Have to forgive Jones here, because. The refs were wearing Panthers Jerseys today.

Also. Want to bring up. (Again. Less than 1 second in)

Remember when MacKinnon got away with SLASHING A REFEREE BECAUSE HE “meant to slash Taylor Hall”????

May someone pull a Cousins on Bennett and Tkachuk. Biggest, most dishonourable rats in the league. We know this, because after every Win. Panthers fans throw their effigy’s on the ice.

  2. totally agree jones is fully responsible, but what is the ref going over there for, theres already one official watching them and the two guys are about 4 feet apart by the time the ref gets over there. definitely not denying the bruins' guy's responsibility nor questioning the call, but the ref coming to "help" might as well have painted some roses red or poured a bucket of water into the ocean

  3. All of that contract drama just to sit on bench , why not play its great opportunity against a great team 🤷

  4. Jones isn't even trying to smack Rodriguez as far as I can tell. It looks like he's trying to knock the stick away from his face/neck/shoulder, but Rodriguez's stick was already on its way down by the time Jones swung. Awful timing.

Kudos to the linesman for taking it like a champ and the refs for not blowing it out of proportion.

  5. Doesn't matter if it was unintentional, you don't swing your stick like that at anyone. Should've been a game misconduct + 3-5 games' suspension.

  6. Hockey is weird. A player was going to assault another player with a weapon but accidentally hit a ref instead. Does this player get kicked out of the game, at least? No, just a two-minute minor for being a dickhead.

  7. Weird seeing that florida had a ton of empty seats.
Are they just overpriced anticipating the next season?

  8. I think that just goes to show how much the Panthers were in the bruins head last night. Jones was so focused on Rodrigues that he had tunnel vision and didn't see the ref

  9. I was thinking bob essensa would be able to turn around korpi to a star tendy since the possibility of swayman still holding out could've been a thing. Now it feels like swayman is saying to himself he could've held out longer for two more million dollars lol

  10. I remember a game years ago where a goalie left his net to argue a call, but lost his footing and slid into the ref, taking him down.

This looked worse at live speed than it did in a slow-motion replay, which made it clear that he lost his balance. Many people were outraged that the goalie "assaulted a referee" and wasn't ejected and suspended for doing so. But apparently among those who understood that this was an accident was the referee in question, who didn't even give him a two-minute penalty for it. Being run into wasn't fun, but no one was injured, so the ref got right back up and the game continued.

  11. I don't believe Sway can handle the net alone without a competent back-up, and Korpisalo isn't it. Ullmark will be greatly missed this season.

  12. FLA looks red hot. Good turn out as well for season opener. Half their playoff games had empty seats everywhere.

  13. God the rat 🐀 and his rat sportsmanship has rubbed off on all the bruins… I hope they have a terrible season if that's how their going to act every time they start losing 📉

Their gonna be injury riddled before Christmas
