Great news – I love how the "new Sens" have done away with the drama of previous years. I had faith that they would get this deal done, and if Ullmark's comments during press scrums are anything, his contract is already worth it! I look forward to the next 5 years, on and off the ice!
I think sweyman just signed for $8.25.
I can't help to think that we saved some money. If Swayman waits just one game, he would have made waaaay more money and as a result we might have to pay Ullmark more seeing that he signed for the same amount.

Does this mean Pillsny's hot take of Ullmark signing after christmas was nonsense?!!!
I believe at the time of the Ullmark trade, I gave Boston an A for the trade and the Sens a B upgrading to a B+ if Ullmark got signed. The Sens saved $6 million on the Korpisalo contract by trading him and Boston got a low 1st rounder out of the deal (plus Kastelic). Basically, both teams get wins in the trade.
Now that Ullmark has officially signed I would say the Sens didn't overpay. He is an older goalie and injuries could creep up as time wears on but we should be able to get some really good mileage out of him.

It almost seems like Andlauer was waiting until Bruins signed Swayman an extension for him to sign Ullmark an extension, or maybe Andlauer and Ullmark made an agreement after the Sens aquired him. Saying to Ullmark "we'll wait until Boston signs Swayman and extension and give u the same amount with less term (because age difference) I don't just think that it was a coincidence that Ullmark signed a extension days later after Swayman signed his for 8.25 AAV for the 8 years.
