Though Liljegren is an NHL capable Dman…..Leafs need cap. IMO he will "gifted" to a team with cap…such as San Jose.
Yes, based on Timmins’ play last night, he’s the one who should be traded, not Liljegren. Overall, the Leafs’ effort last night was definitely sub-par. With all that firepower, they couldn’t even score one goal! Against Montreal!

Timmins looked horrible. I wouldn't trade Lilly yet. I would rotate them until one of them earns the full time spot. Add in Meyers to that rotation. Make them earn the spot.
We are going to trade Lilly and he's going to turn into Gustav Forsling. Lilly is 25.. Still has two or three years to hit his prime.

I would much more prefer the Leafs to win games 1-0 or 2-1 than 6-5. We were just on the wrong end of it yesterday but they should stay committed to this style even if it doesn't translate into early regular season wins.
Lilligren isn't as bad as Timmons was
Loved the defensive play, goaltending and finishing of checks! If we play like this all year and just squeak into the playoffs, I'll be happier than how we have previously played.
Philippe Myers is ranked higher than Liljegren now, too. Hakanpaa also. Not looking good for Lilly.

I would play Stolarz. Lilligren ya not enough for his pay. Timmons play is very inconsistent but he's a place holder at the moment anyway. And there's a few good D getting better in the Marlies right now. It's a money move. Needs to be done.
Lilly doesn't hit, doesn't win many puck battles, doesn't kill penalties, rarely plays on the pp, and makes 3M. What possible market is there for him? And how did he get 3M in arbitration anyway, was his agent the arbitrator?

I have been saying for years that the Leafs have had a complicated defensive system. Moving Liljegren is a couple seasons too late, but a welcomed change.
Lily will be dumped in columbus
Lyligren, Kampf and Robertson for Wright from Seattle. Lyligren can go end to end and make every pass.
And offer some reality to Seattle without having to pay $7 million for a D-man. Kampf wins allot of face-off's for puck posetion.
And Robertson may be as good as Wright and the Leaf's gain cap space for Marner and Taveras.

Good riddance. I like Myers better than both Liligren and Timmins. He has more compete than either. You think he is a great NHL defenseman? Surely you jest lol
Wol has played some really good games for the Leafs, he certainly has the skill to be a upper level keeper in the NHL……..but he is so injury prone, he never seems to ready to go, he always seems to be almost ready, you cannot rely on him.
I'd get rid of Lilly and Timmins. Sign any d-man that can play with some emotions.
Liljegren is a right handed D, decent skater, former 1st round pick and is still only 25 years old. If the leafs get less than a 2nd round pick in this deal, the asset management should be scrutinized..
Lilly is the odd man out because of his size and refusal to play heavy. You son's see Murray anytime soon simply because if they bring him up to replace the Will injury then they will have waive him again to send him down when Will comes back. Hildeby is called up for that reason.
I would trade Timmins than Lilly. Contracts are killing the Leafs and players being traded who don't want to leave. Apparently Liily on the block for a reason.
