The team that claims a player off waivers should be required to pay them their next pay check at the NHL rate, whether they get in a game or not. So at least getting yanked around like this would mean a payday.
But if he doesn’t play, it shouldn’t count against the cap.

I thought if the original team reclaims the person they get sent straight to the AHL? Like what happened to Patera in Vancouver when Boston waived him after Sway signed. I feel like there must be a nuance that I’m missing here…
