Connor McDavid Doesn’t Deserve This

In the aftermath of the Florida Panthers’ win over the Edmonton Oilers, concerns are rising about Connor McDavid’s legacy in light of his last two scoreless games. But here’s the thing: those questions don’t matter.

  1. This was always going to be bitter sweet final because it was going to be sad for one team and I have big respect for teams

  2. Apparently the Conn Smythe is now awarded to the highest paid player who turns into a complete ghost in Game 7 of the final….huh..who knew?🤔

  3. This was also the end of a very long fight for The Oilers, one that started back in December when they were dead last in the League and they're one of only 3 teams in the Salary Cap Era who have ever ultimately made The Stanley Cup Final in light of being dead last in the League half-way through the Season….. the Flyers in 2010, the Blues in 2019 being the others (and St. Louis WON The Cup).

THEY WERE GASSED TONIGHT because of this, but this loss will fuel them next Season and they've fully bought into Chris Knoblauch.

  4. Well said, just thinking about all the little things about this game makes me so much more prouder of my team, they were so close, within a couple inches, one goal away.

  5. As a Kings fan. McDavid hasn't exactly earned my sympathy.

As a Hockey fan it's a shame that such an individual talent like his didn't…..but this is a team game and Florida played the better team game tonight.

  6. Florida becomes the team that just barely didnt blow it.
Connor and the Oilers become the team that nearly pulled off the impossible.

  7. funny: your titel reads "McDavid doesn't deserve this" … At first glance, I thought you mean he did not deserve the win lol

"It's not his fault": I agree, but he couldn't carry the Oilers to win the cup either, and wouldn't you expect an impact that strong from one of the greatest hockey players of all time? I feel like Barkov and Bob both had more impact on this series than McDavid… A single player can make the difference

  8. 2:20: "the stanley cup doesn't always go to the best team"

While technically true, a statement like this after game 7 of this series makes you look like a bad sport

At the beginning of the video, you do say the cats deserved to win, so I'm not sure what you want to say

  9. The best team won because defense matters and they shutdown the two best offensive players in the world when it mattered. And for the record skinner played lights out in the final series and deserves more respect than Edmonton fans are giving him

  10. Wanna be's ….very sketchy goaltending with Skinner in net …..no defense on the ice half the time …Nurse needs a Dr. . Where is this real character ? To lose 10 in a row during the regular season is not how to show team character…and then lose three in a row in the finals ….that ain't character it is just pure desperation ….Cats will always toy with their prey and let them think it will be ok before the final kill …the best team won…..these Grease Stain's will never win a cup with these two biggest two prima donna's in the league …..please sign Dr. Dry ….you need another Nurse contract….this is not a team ….it's a one man wagon

  11. Oilers will have the core players for next season so oilers will be cup contenders next year again why would anyone leave on there own your not going to get a better chance for the cup so all the main guys will stay Drisitle could leave but why would he hill sign a extension so good year guys and you will be right back again

  12. Skinner doesn’t deserve the shit dumped on also.. The Oilers blew the series when they drilled to recognize their 3-4 lines were starting to click and gain confidence.

    McDavid will be back…

Malkin 09 was still better though.

  13. The league is rigged and has always been against the canadian team, i have been watching hockey since the 80s, they dont care, they called some bad calls on the oilers that were not considered a penalty back in the day. Bread and circus

  14. Bettmans small ice surface makes an NHL final most boring sports event we have ever watched? On olmypic size ice the true talent teams would of won easily? That's a fact jack?

  15. When it came to the finals the third line performed the best for the oilers. McDavid showed up for two games and the core 4 did nothing.

  16. Next year put Nurse as a forward because hes pretty useless at defence. You have to try and get something out of 9.5 million. Tuff to get a trade at that price.

  17. Yes, he does. He took the cheque. He took tbe C. He took all the idolization and exposure. And he DIDN'T get the job done. Don't be such a Liberal.

  18. If McOverrated was as good as all the media said he was, then he would have scored more
in the last 2 games. He would have scored in the key games, not pad his stats in blowouts.

Whats more important hypothetically? 1 goal but it ties the game or is the gwg. Or 4 points in a 7-1 blowout?

He didn’t show up when it mattered and only scored 8 goals. Barkov who deserved the Conn Smythe scores one less with 7 goals, but played shutdown defense against the best players in the league. Elite Defense > a pile of secondary assists.

  19. You could say this about multiple players on cup losing teams, every year.
Reality is, McDavid was shutdown by Barkov and Forsling. He failed to break through and outplay them in much of the 7 game series.
Forsling shut him down like no other defender I’ve ever seen against 97.

It takes a team to win. And Florida deserved it. Not to mention their road to the finals was infinitely harder than the Oilers road. Might’ve been the hardest path to the Cup of any team in many, many yrs.
