Petition to Demand Enhanced Streaming Quality from Rogers and Sportsnet for Sportsnet+

For years, many of us have been struggling with constant streaming issues on Sportsnet+, despite paying $200 per annum for the service. Our desire for quality, uninterrupted entertainment is continuously let down by the substandard performance of the streaming service. The persisting problem isn't just an inconvenience but a violation of our consumer rights to quality service for our investment. Consumers should be able to rely on the service to work efficiently, without having to deal with the frustration of buffering screens or lost connections, particularly given the high cost of subscription. According to statistics, more than 60% of consumers would likely stop doing business with a company if they experience poor service (American Express Global Customer service Barometer, 2017). Rogers and Sportsnet, it's high time you up your game. We need immediate improvement in your Sportsnet+ service to ensure that we receive the level of quality we pay for. Consequently, we ask that Rogers and Sportsnet prioritize addressing the streaming issues impacting Sportsnet+ and ensure a high-quality, reliable streaming experience for all subscribers. Kindly sign this petition to show your support for consumer rights, and push for improved service from Rogers and Sportsnet.

Fucking agreed. Either step up or fuck off Sportsnet

  2. Enzo87871

The quality needs to improve and we should get 4K as well. Everyone has a 4K tv now and it should be the standard

  3. Famous_Mushroom4213

Not even that, last night I couldn’t even watch because it said ‘error15 you must be in Canada tot watch’ very infuriating

  4. I signed up for Sportsnet Plus this year through Amazon Prime Video, I prefer it because any device with Prime Video can stream games. I’ve had no issues with connectivity or buffering in the first couple games and last year’s playoffs.

All these streaming services are too expensive and dont offer near the quality you’d expect for what you’re paying. I can’t justify it, someone said on another post Sportsnet is 40 bucks a month? Hell no. That could mean missing meals. And not to mention the subscriptions I already pay for.

Edit: Forgot to say that sports streaming services seem particularly egregious but Netflix and D+ are getting bad with plans with Ads and password sharing crackdowns.

The best petition & signature is not give Rogers/sportsnet your money.

If you haven’t, post this in all the Canadian team subs. We hate oilers fans, but they deserve to see their team get smoked in 4k, too.

I use the sportsnet app. Never missed a game. But I agree we should be able to watch it on our cable box and not have to depend on an app on our phones and tablet. Don’t get me wrong I love the app when I’m out and about but nothing beats watching at home in HD or 4k.

For the first time in many many many frustrating years living in Ontario and trying to watch Canucks “affordably” .. I finally paid for sportsnet + … I have all Roku devices in my home so I had to buy a fire stick to be able to watch it on my TV.. yes I know I can cast, but that always glitches and fails between my phone and Roku devices. I cannot buy it through Prime because you can only get basic sportsnet which would black out the games for me…. So really there or two options… NHL + or sportsnet +.. I got sportsnet for the added variety of other sports.

Sadly, the only way this will work is if people canceled their subs and cited this as the reason.

I don’t know if anyone else had this issue, it’s never happened. Or not as frequently, I use the app and stream to my Chromecast. It usually drops out twice or three times a game and I have to restart. Last night I couldn’t watch more than 5 mins at a time, but it wasnt the Chromecast. I say this because typically when it happens I unlock my phone and hit play again. However, last night the app would just turn itself off on my phone. I then watched on my phone which was annoying but even then the app would randomly close. And then the third period fiasco happened where I couldn’t watch because I wasn’t in Canada according to Sportsnet even though I am.

The app is garbage. I’ve used other streaming services to watch other sports and Sportsnet is the one true garbage app.

And in truth their app has always been buggy. It’s always been trash. It isn’t right to get this lousy service when you pay for something. Especially at the cost of a sportsnet subscription.

They know it sucks, they just don’t care! 🤷‍♂️

Hate to say it, but when Sportsnet was giving me error code 15 last night, pirate feeds came to the rescue. They were high quality, always available and with Adblock not a bad experience. You want me to continue to pay for Sportsnet+ that’s your competition and so far it’s a toss up.

  14. VonHavok

I’m usually pissed off at sportsnet but last night really sent me. You just don’t come between hockey and Candians while calling them Americans

  15. AppealProof

I cancelled mine last night. Put 2.5 hrs into WWE PPV last Saturday only for it to cut out. Then again spend 2 hrs watching only for it to do the same. Can use that $30 monthly on something else like to not be homeless lol

  16. aaaaaliyah

These Canadian corporations fuck us so bad. The contempt to the consumer is out of control.

  17. ClassicChrisstopher

The fact we’re paying for something and getting errors or commercials during games is a joke. This isn’t a one off thing either, it happens constantly.

If it continues I’m just going to cancel and “Sail the 7 seas”.

Feels like we need a document to collect signatures and probably should include press in this ( if there are any who are independent).

I ended up cancelling and getting Sportsnet through Shaw. So I can watch on cable. However I watch lots on web or iPad. Got hit with this. Last year in the playoffs it stopped with 1 or 2 minutes left in the games many times. I also get the freezes and have to restart it. It great to see this thread. This issue made the Vancouver Province this morning (oct 12).

  20. I was free of rogers until they took over shaw. I fucking hate that company and everyone there.

What a lot of people need to understand is that streaming is getting expensive and reverting back to cable and internet packages is the way to go.

2300 sqf home, using Telus Internet and cable with free Netflix. $101/month. No internet speed issues throughout the house. Lastly, to get these promo deals on fixed 2 year contracts, go to mall kiosks. They’re set up specifically to acquire new customers with aggressive promos.

For me, even if it’s a little bit more expensive than internet and SN now or whatever other sports app, the peace of mind is worth it.

  22. 1717subcool

If you’re petitioning Roger’s then the Canucks should be named in the petition as well.

  23. DJ_Molten_Lava

I think I signed it.. it wanted me to sign 10 more random petitions or donate $8, which I didn’t do. At any rate, fuck Rogers. Their streaming service sucks and their sports radio station sucks.

  24. DishwasherFromSurrey

I usually want to pull my hair out trying to use SN+… watching through prime this year have had no issues. I’d recommend it. I would pirate but I just don’t have interest in fucking around finding a stream

  25. Competitive_Camp_473

Whyyyy don’t we have 4K yet for NHL games?!?! It’s so antiquated

  26. flwrcafe

last night was abysmal. i was casting from my phone to the tv and every 20 minutes it would cut out and i had to restart and recast the stream. then right when the game went into OT it just cut out completely and said “error: sportsnet is only available in canada” ??? i’m sitting in my house in burnaby, what do you mean? i don’t even have a vpn or anything, my IP address is LITERALLY in canada. i had to quickly find a free site that was streaming it so i didn’t miss the end. it was like that until i went to bed. its working today again. last season was slightly better, i have no idea whats going on here. don’t even get me started on the Wednesday game playing ads DURING THE GAME, the same ones over and over. infuriating. i just want to enjoy the start of the season. i’m one more game like this away from just getting cable.

  27. Ham__Kitten

It’s almost like the CRTC allowing Rogers to own 90% of all media and telecommunications in Canada is a bad thing

  28. dattroll123

the best way to force a change is to vote with your wallet.

  29. Vivaan977

forget the 4k i think most people got the “must be in Canada to watch” error last night. actual bullshit

  30. cascadian_dirtbag

I’m starting to wonder if this glitchy app is just Sportsnet trying to mess with the free streaming services and they screw over the paying customer in their attempts to stop the free streaming… We can’t even watch through their website it’s the app or Chromecast etc..

  31. Hoser-theHoserian

The thing that is really unforgiveable for me right now are the ad breaks that actually cut into the running time of the game. Whoever is producing/directing the broadcast needs to do some quality control.
