[O’Connor] Torts said Luchanko sitting tonight wasn’t something they planned way in advance. He & the coaches spoke w/Briere after last night’s game. “Young kid, lot of travel, time changes, all the things that come with this first trip. Thought it was best we give him just the 1 game.”

Wait why is he sitting? And what does he mean by “just the one game?” I guess we’d need the context.
Edit: Ah he means just sitting him one game. I completely forgot this is a back-to-back lmao. 10:00 start screwing with me.
[Does sitting Luchanko have anything to do with a plan to stretch out the 9-game “deadline” in terms of burning an ELC year?
“No, no. I just don’t want him playing a back-to-back early in the year.”](https://x.com/charlieo_conn/status/1845254340925071724)
Makes sense to not have an 18YO play in a back to back when you have an actually good forward sitting for him. Cates hopefully looks good tonight so they can maybe realize how good he is at 5v5
Once I saw he was sitting I’d assumed that was planned in advance
I knew it. He can’t get over the 2nd goal
Really tho I would’ve been surprised if he did play b2b
Anaheim did something similar with Leo Carlsson last year.
There was always talk the Dlo would be likely for this game because of Kadri – is it him or Cates in?
EDIT – Confirmed as Cates. No DLo or Seeler to keep Kadri honest.
Wondering if it’s related to the hit he took last night? Sometimes after a mild concussion you feel fine and symptoms only start appearing the following days. Maybe they’re sitting him to see how he feels this upcoming week.
Is Michkov not playing either than?
They probably should scratch Laughton next game for Cates. Unless they think playing him will increase his trade value. They seem to have missed the boat on trading Scotty.
They absolutely want him to stick with the big club. Otherwise he would be playing all 9 games
