Extraordinarily questionable calls cap off a defensively sloppy game. I’d still like someone to explain to me how Rempe engaged in a net battle, back turned to Ingram, who skates up for the clinch is called for incidental contact. I’d be inclined to think if you bumped into Wes leaving MSG, you just might feel an envelope loaded with Bettman-bucks in his pocket.
I think it’s time someone sat Mika down and had a nice long chat about what’s going on with him. Last season he was super inconsistent, and he all but evaporated in the playoffs. Tonight’s showing does not inspire any more confidence. I’ll take limping away with a loser point, but I don’t like it.
See ya Monday.
Highlight of the night was Sam calling Hockey Club de Utah the Utah Jazz
Dang it
Twitter is still a doomer cesspool lol
Fuck Wes Mccauley, that is all
On the bright side, maybe Igor will reconsider taking the 11+ mill.
You’d think the guy who designed the new MSG score bug would know anything without a shot counter is a fail.
I miss the pre 23-24 Mika.
Just looks like he has zero confidence and it’s upsetting.
But the shit about “SHOULDVE TRADED HIM LAST SUMMER!”
Just stop it
Wtf happened? Shesterkin just tanked my score today on fantasy
6 goals on 25 shots isn’t great
Mika was a -4 tonight. We scored 5 goals. He is worse than Trouba ever has been
Trash officiating but also very sloppy play by us.
FYI: Utah has 5 players on the ice on their last rush that eventually led to the OT goal.
fun game. wild second
We got 1 point but still lost to the nameless Hockey Club who is now 3-0. 🤦🏽♀️. After such a great game against Pittsburgh, I was expecting some dialed in play. I should’ve realized that it’s not Rangers hockey without them working my blood pressure. 🤣 Instead we had sloppy defensive plays and terrible refereeing. But what’s new. Edstrom and Carrick got some great hits in. We can definitely do better but it’s only game 2 of the season. There’s a lot more hockey left. Onto Monday and an original 6 matchup. See ya Monday!
Hard to say anything positive about Zibanejad after that one. He normally starts slow, but that contract is already starting to age poorly. If Chytil gets hurt again, the Rangers are in ta world of hurt.
Finally, the Hork HAS COME BACK to Section 222!
We survived the off season, the drama of the successful and unsuccessful roster moves, and I am ready to be both hurt and elated again with all of you. On to the View in 222!
* The Hork’s baby bro Uosdwis r Rewoh from Greek Town has failed me after being undefeated in trips with me. He was letting them fly against Utah with… Let’s just say various team names throughout the night.
* Section 222 was LIVELY tonight. Especially with the “SIGN THE CONTRACT” chant. And yes, when the game started to turn bad, with the chants of various types against one Wes McCauley.
* Bread was looking fiery tonight with his pair of goals. I was quite ready to throw my hat for a hat truck, alas, not to be. Foxy was on his offensive point today, too.
* Greg in Green looked like he was half in the bag for the human puck race. Surprised he even finished!
* Disco Cam returns, featuring a dude in the Hockey Weiner Dogs beer league jersey
* Rempe definitely catching a few dirty hits that didn’t get called. Not looking forward to him getting picked on during the year. Case in point: the called back goal. Bullshit and should have counted, shouldn’t have been a failed challenge, at least we got the makeup call but that’s poor compensation.
* One of the Garden messages during first intermission was a very sad one today. Rest in peace Kayla H., 1999-2024. That’s gone way too soon, and my condolences to your family.
* Miller, my man, you can’t bobble shit like that. He made a few very bad defensive plays. But keep doing the crazy geometry play that kept us in the game. Not sure if it’s a hat pick for Miller or a Dangit for Ingram, but it would have made Dangle’s list.
* Great gesture by Henrik to meet Spencer, a young man going into college with a disease (I forget offhand) that’s left him struggling with numerous surgeries. The King is a kind king that shows much love to his people. And the big donation doesn’t hurt, either.
* Awesome fight by Edstrom, even if it was the extra flight leading to a birthday ejection. Carrick did pretty well too.
* Karaoke – Piano Man. Always a favorite. We were all in the mood for a comeback, and we were *almost* feeling all right.
* BULLSHIT calls on the goalie interference when Ingram was well out of the crease. I loved the fact that Igor shared far out to challenge Utah whether or not they would touch him and see if he’d get the same call.
* Wes seriously had a hard on for us tonight, I know it’s too early in the season to cry about that, but still. Sucked ass.
* Not that we didn’t do our own sabotage. I mentioned Key once already, and Zibby was technically right there as well, but they really blew it at the end of overtime and just left Igor out to dry. That’s a BAD blown assignment and we paid the price for it. Fuck.
All in all, the team mostly didn’t quit, some good signs of life, but a lot of the fancy passing without shooting and some dropped defensive assignments. Also, I feel like the fourth line was not really on it. I love Rempe, but I think Jonny Brodz would have been the better choice. I don’t know if Edstrom and Rempe is a good set of wingers to have right now.
Bad officiating tonight.
Cuylle was hooked from behind in his hands on a semi-breakaway and no call.
Then the goalie interference on Cuylle when Ingram initiated contact.
Then Trocheck gets a hooking call on him when he makes a stick on stick play.
See a pattern?
Horrible loss. Cannot say that enough. You will not win many games playing that way, especially behind your own blue line. Atrocious defense and aside one overtime save, bad goaltending.
This game was indeed what I call, Instagram Hockey. Run and Gun flashy play. But in reality, this game got out of control during the 2nd period bc of the zebras. Wasn’t goalie interference on Rempe. But bc it’s Wes McCauley, and bc the current trend for the media to slobber over a nerdy tech dude that owns a team as his new toy, and bc it’s Utah, and the fact that r/hockey consider Rempe the antichrist that it had to be called. I disagree with the call. But the Zebra’s turned into 3 blind mice. Ingram flopping around like a twit. Bread did his thing, the 3rd line of Cuylle-Chytil-Kakko did their thing, Igor had a bad game. Oh that 3rd line, I say this again, that 3rd line is gonna be a special line this year. But defensively tonight, as what Lav said, too much chaos tonight. Vally also said it to about the standards. This game defensively wasn’t part of the standards. Too many East/West for not only the Rangers, but for Hockey Club de Utah. Utah shouldn’t be playing like that if that team wants to make the playoffs. But as for the Rangers, defensively, bad. However, the one thing I liked was the comeback. Nice comeback.
Disappointing loss. But the Rangers got a point. every point matters even though it’s the 2nd game of the year. Play much better defensively. Simple as that. But, the Rangers got a point, and move on. Onto the Red Wings on Monday.
Was at the game tonight. It was very much an early season game. The team was as sloppy as the Australian dude in the row ahead of me in section 209 who got his foot stuck in a seat and was an all around pita. Anyways for a home opener that game had a little bit of everything. It’s only our second game of the season, LGR (but seriously Mika, please wake up soon)
I’m over braindead lazy mistakes by our “core”
Play Chytil Laf & Kakko in overtime. They’ll make similar mistakes but at least I know they play at 100% every healthy shift they’re on the ice. I won’t get pissed off *knowing without a doubt* that they can play better.
Mika pissing away coverage is infinitely more frustrating to me than Cuylle and Rempe playing too fast and loose near a goalie or Kakko and Chytil grinding a shift in the O zone that doesn’t necessarily end with a shot attempt.
there were so many articles about how panarin, kreider, and zibanejad were no-shows against florida. but really, mika was a different level of bad. the other two were trying. mika was just making blind passes and looking for calls.
i have his jersey. i’ve always really liked him as a player. but he looked downright terrible to the point of being a detriment in the florida series and tonight he again looked lazy and slow…someone tell me he’s going to turn it around?
I like Mika and I miss the excited 2020-22 Mika where it looked like he gave a shit .
Its 2 games but after last season and the playoffs it’s hard not to be concerned about him when he just looks miserable and then goes through the motions tonight With not enough effort. Disappointing .
We got a little bit of a coaching issue/lineup management.
First off, how do you justify Brodz being out of the lineup for Rempe. Say all you want about energy and blah blah blah but Brodz makes an impact on the ice and rempe doesn’t at all. Teams aren’t scared of him lol.
Next, how is Mika, Kreider, and smith all getting 19-24 mins of ice time playing like that? Especially Mika. Kakko, Chytil, and Cuylle play a really solid game and get 12 mins. Why aren’t we rewarding good play. It’s the same old story.
Mika is a real big issue. Contract aside he’s simply been playing horrible. He can’t score, he passes up scoring chances, he doesn’t produce 5v5 and now he’s barely producing on the PP.
Trouba is back to his old self, glad that he turned it around for one game. He and Schneider are going to be a mess all year. Him getting 20 minutes of ice time is an issue he needs to be severely sheltered.
Anyways I wish our coaching would actually play the players who are playing well instead of doing whatever you want to call what they are doing now.
deep down I would love for Igor to redeem himself on Monday with another shutout
93 has been awful since April. And he continues to get top ice time minutes. He was putrid tonight
I will go to my grave saying this. As long sd we have frauds like Zibanejad on our team we will never win anything
Doomers: is it time to ask if Igor’s contract is affecting his play
