  1. Are there still people who thought this was a good trade for the Nucks? (I am a Canucks fan)
Lol, a near 40 goal scorer, a first round pick, and a top prospect
This was a garbage trade from the get go. All of those assets for a rental
Good on the flames, hope it keeps producing for them

  2. Brzustewicz (who wasn't going to sign), jurmo who we didn't want to sign, kuzzy who we wanted to dump, a late late late 1st and a 4th.

In return we received a long rental of lindholm and debrusk for 7 years. I'd still take that deal.

  3. As a Canucks fan, I can tell you the simple facts are that our side of the trade tree is already finished, while Calgary's has barely started. Not only do they get a roster player, but multiple prospects out of this… each of which could have a lengthy career with the Flames and then be traded for a refreshed asset. The haul Calgary got could generate value for them for decades.

This will likely go down as one of the worst deals the Canucks ever made.

  4. Long term yes, short term no. Everyone with any critical thinking knows this is how hockey works. When the cup window is open, every team sells assets to win now. Lindholm did his job in being good for the playoffs and wanted 1st line money for 3rd minutes and now boston can deal with that overpayment.

  5. I don't think it's as big a loss as you believe. Moving Kuz, who was a press box regular, saved the Canucks nearly 6 mil in cap space. They would not have been able to make the signings they did if they kept Kuzmenko and he will have his defensive lapses (which is why he was in the press box).

Calgary gave up a first round to save nearly the same amount of cap space when they traded Monahan. Cap space is pretty valuable especially when moving a player that spends more time in the press box that on the ice.

  6. If you have to pick a winner and a loser of the trade, i would say Calgary won and Vancouver lost, but i actually still dont mind the trade tbh

  7. It's a win now and win later scenario. Vancouver wins now as they need Lindholm to get to 2nd round while Calgary wins the future bet as they have decent prospects and players. Also, you can't expect Vancouver rob Calgary twice in a row. Otherwise, no team willing to do business with Vancouver in the future. I will see the 2 trades from last year as a set of trade.

  8. The answer to the title is, no. They didn't lose. I will remind you that his salary is still 5 million, and is set to demand a raise this next off-season. That's the same money they used to sign Debrusk, and will remain at that cap level for 6 years.

Between this deal, the Mikheyev deal, and the Poolman deal, they have finally gotten this team out of cap hell. That's the true win for Vancouver.

Now they can either use that cap space to push for a deep playoff run, or possibly to take on a bad contract in a trade for the lost draft picks. Either way, this is a much better situation than having kuzmenko remain.

  9. The Lindholm trade for Vancouver was worse than the Foligno trade for Toronto, just look at the assets involved

  10. Easy answer. NO. I love kuzy and he is one of the most entertaining players on and off the ice. But he isnt good defensively and he isnt good on the forecheck. He would be awesome to have at a low cap hit and to throw on the bottom line. But for his price the canucks needed to move on from him

  11. Way too early to judge. Canucks needed Kuz off the cap for this year. The dman the shames got may be good may be bad, too early to tell.
