Edmonton Oilers: THAT’S PATHETIC

The Edmonton Oilers fall in a pathetic beating from the Chicago Blackhawks. A lazy, uninspired effort from the Oilers leads to another pile on for the opposition.

  1. Only 2-game losing streak…I guess Oilers will start treating the game more seriously after another 2-9-1 season start…

  2. The Oilers aren't tough enough defensively. On paper they look worse than last year defensively. And the eye test so far seems to concur. Don't get me wrong, they need to score but oooof.

  3. The good news is this game is the best they have looked so far this season. Brown looks good. Janmark to. Pickard was at least average in net. They finally showed some urgency in the 3rd period. A few guys looked slightly less rusty then last game. But other then that, wow, sucking harsh. Lol. This team is better then last years team is what I have been told several times. I still disagree. Lots of time for upgrades though.

  4. Ya I’m mean I agree the refs weren’t that good but it wasn’t there fault the only 2 positive were the oilers had chances and they were battling back, but other than that, there’s nothing it’s frustrating.

  5. Just need a few games to get the new offensive chemistry going.

Nurse still leaving me aggravated about his lack of defensive effort.

  6. 97 and 29 are not putting out the effort to win. Unacceptable. Especially when 29 has a new $14M per year contract he has not shown any fit or passion at all. Everyone needs to be better.

  7. The team "not giving a damn" is an issue that lies at the feet of their Captain. So much for having a season that without having to chase things in the standings. Everyone said this was the year the Oilers cruise from game 1 to 82 without adversity.

  8. Okay why are we still playing like this. Don’t we know what it takes to get to the finals? No reason we should be getting outplayed like tonight. Here goes to the season!!

  9. Jeff Jackson should be fired immediately. So should Bowman. Most of what the Oilers management did over the summer didn't make a lot of sense, and seeing what they have put together actually on the ice… It's fkn embarrassing to even say that I'm a fan. Granted, the team just isn't playing what I would call professional hockey… But the buck stops with the guy at the top. Management heads should roll for this start already. Seems to be the only way to get the team to play like a damn team and I don't think the coach is the problem this time.

  10. Alright breath everyone, this team went on a deep run had a short off season they do look sluggish and a bit burnt out. their still sorting things out. we also played two try hard teams that literally collapsed to the net and held the fort and blocked a ton of shots. teams are gonna come in and use the oilers as a standard. we are the western conference champions. our 3rd period tonight we looked much better, it was our best period so far.

  11. Should of fought to keep the team the same from last season! we were so close to winning — then we dump so many players and have to restructure with less than stellar players — Jeff Jackson hiring Stan Bowman was a HUGE mistake —-

  12. I made a comment a few weeks ago which did not make sense to oilermanics; there will be ups and downs throughout this season BUT WE NEED TO QUALIFY FOR THE PLAYOFFS ONLY , there are 32 teams chasing there dream not just US!!!..

  13. I guess it's over 0-2 but is there not 80 games lefts. I know it's the same old but that's the oilers so I am not happy with there start but that's life and that's the Oilers .

  14. I dunno man – the oilers still were clearly the better team. Things just aren't clicking at 100% there. On the flip side, that's going to be the best the Blackhawks will be.

Also Jeff Skinner was starting to play better and I'm no longer worried, there. I get where he'll get to. Will be a great addition. Positives.

    It's coming together. No panic.

  15. It’s only been 2 games but it feels like the seasons over. They look worse from last year.

  16. Do you figure it's bad chemistry? We need players with talent AND work ethic. Management and/or coaching may be to blame, perhaps the players can be induced to apply both. By not raising the conference banner, are they saying: That's not the one we want!

  17. goaltending was horrendous, defence scattered, offense can't aim to save their lives… the only goal scored was an accidental one by Corey Perry and Darnell Nurse's 3rd goal scoring into his own team's net… wtf was that entire game? Last few mins they were just standing around and let another one in, at least pretend like you care and give the loyal fans a show. the fans deserve better… they have nothing to even cheer for right now… hopefully they can get their season passes refunded asap because its not the losses its the crap effort that is not worth sh*t and definitely not worth the loyal fans' attention. Bouchard looked like he was trying to sabotage the team with slow plays, Draisaitl visibly standing still as a statue in the middle of the action and right after his raise, wtf happened with this team? they looked like they couldn't give af.

  18. No Professional … no passion …painful to Fans …. stop buying ticket and merchandize please …. the players don't care … sick

  19. They will get their coaches fired again …. seems like a locker room problem

  20. I agree to a certain point. They are a new team. A lot of new players. This is where we’ll see what kind of coach knoblauch is.

  21. Long post follows with base game statistics including some for the Chicago Blackhawks. Read, don't read, up to you. These are BASE stats not detailed ones. My comments and observations at the end.

Again the PP Sucks (we got 1 of 3), the PK is non-existent (they got 3 of 3), I couldn't watch the game (medical stuff), and NO ONE BLOCKS SHOTS ON THE OILERS (or if they do very little). Chicago blocked 35 shots to the Oilers 12. PITIFUL and truly disappointing. Connor and Leon both getting penalties doesn't help. Look, I support the Oilers. I hope they have a wonderful season going forward and so on BUT they make it hard sometimes. Take care and Happy Thanksgiving to those celebrating (or whatever holiday you are celebrating if you're celebrating).

  22. Weak as piss……Holland made the team tiny and heartless…….Defense is also brutal…..zero push back through-out the entire team.

  23. I thought at 4-1. Knobby should have benched 97,29 & 93 the rest of the game! Not saying it was all their fault but this team needs a GD kick in the ass. You lost. Get over it it’s a new year! Stop feeling sorry for yourself!
