Hopefully this means we will be seeing more Lyon this year.

  2. oceanic8675

    Woah, they actually did it

Trying to get him back in GR to give Cossa some relief?

  3. MiStrong

Cossa better be the starter next year im so tired of the goalie carousel

  4. Alternative-Pie4914

At first I was confused why they set aside Lyon, turns out they just believe him more. Or maybe because Husso just stink sorry

  5. Tourettestic_Park

I wonder if this is a more permanent move with Dadbot doing well last night and Cossa needing some help in GR. Or if this is a move due to Petry and Fisher being injured and wanting to bring someone up.

Husso played 1 game and he’s on wavers?

  7. Prestigious-Clock-53

Haha wow. Kind of wild to be honest. Wins game 1 start, fucks it up, gets put on waivers. Guessing no one will pick up that contract though.

  8. Calling__Elvis

What’s next if he’s not picked up by someone else?

  9. crwtrbt5

Wow! Between Wallman, Holl, and now Husso, Stevie is not afraid to move on from a contract he signed.

  10. Fancy-Ambassador6160

If only Ken Holland was around…

  11. thillman43

No one will claim him. Just lets Yzerman call up Watson.

  12. thegonzojoe

When you’re basically on your last chance already and you lay a turd. I expect nothing but 40 save shutouts from here on out from Talbot.

  13. Shotokanguy

    Oof god damn

First game wasn’t entirely on him

  14. Ydoesany1doanything

Didn’t see this coming this early

  15. A24OnTheRocks

Who do we call up to take his place? Will probably be Austin Watson but I’d love it if we called up Kasper. Please surprise me Stevie.

  16. Unlikely-Waltz-550

This is a roster move to bring up a forward from GR. Fisher and Petry aren’t going on IR. Hopefully he stays down though

  17. Maybe the front office is finally getting serious about showing people the door.

  18. ando772

    Let’s face it guys

    It’s Talbots and Lyon’s net

I don’t pay a lot of attention to contracts but took a moment to look up how much Husso was getting paid. This dude really got 15 million over 3 years from the Wings?

  20. MelonberryMidnight

Wow I didn’t think they’d do it this soon but I think this is the best decision. Husso just isn’t him.

  21. Flowsnice

Greta decision by the wings. He can go work in his game in the AHL and if we lucky, somebody picks him up on waivers

  22. Technicoler

I think a lot of y’all are reading way too much into this. They need roster latitude, and an expensive goalie with injury history and recent poor play is a pretty safe bet to enable that. 🤷‍♂️

  23. msbenjamin22

    Good

    Saw enough at this point

    Cam and Lyon

Bring up Watson or Kasper and let’s go win tomorrow night

I made a comment a few days ago about the goalie situation. I predicted that one of the goalies was going to be waived soon after the season starts, but also predicted that no matter who we waive, they likely get claimed.

Now, thinking outside the box here, maybe it was the plan to waive Husso all along, but the team was worried he’d get claimed. Maybe, they started him knowing he was going to underperform in hopes that showing that poor performance to the league would keep him from getting claimed on waivers.

Maybe this is like a big brain move to keep him in our system, and ultimately get him down to GR, or one of them down to GR, without the risk of someone getting claimed. Could it be the case the team started the worst of the three goalies in order to show that off to the league, in order to get them through waivers?

There is no way this coaching staff didn’t have at least an idea that Husso would blow it on that start. Right? I mean… the sub seems to have had a pretty good idea that either Lyon or Talbot should have gotten the net, no?

Is Yzerman playing some 4d chess here to sneak a goalie through waivers?

    😱

Not super surprised but also shocked they actually made a decision

  26. abellaire

I know nothing about contracts and such, so we save some cap space if they send him down, but not the full amount of his contract, correct? But if it’s a one-way contract he gets paid the same if he’s in the AHL or NHL. So who actually pays the players salary? Do the Wings have to cover it? I can’t imagine the Griffins would suddenly have to pay out big salary.

Steve shaking his head looking at Walman Husso and Holl. “Who the fuck signed you jokers?!”

    “You did boss”

    Steve:

    “Fuck”
