  1. He'll clear at that salary, and the Wings will only realize 1.15 million in cap relief by sending Husso down.

  2. So a few tin foil hat thoughts: If he gets claimed, I am going to assume he was claimed by a team on his ten team no trade list.

Out of the three goalies on the Wings, he is the most likely not to be claimed because of the cap hit of his contract. It also gives the wings more flexibility as over a million is cleared in cap space instead of Lyon’s 900k. Every bit helps.

  3. I'm a long time Red Wings fan. I think the time they traded for Husso it was a good bet. He looked good at the time and why not trade a third for him. Too bad for him that it hasn't worked out. I don't see anyone claiming him at that cap hit. What seems more likely for me is that he clears waivers and then gets traded with salary retained.

  4. Husso just another example of what the Bruins were slightly worried about Swayman possibly being. When you are THE GUY its not the same as being part of a tandem.

  5. Husso had a bad year in STL. Then a good year. Then two more bad years in DET. Safe to say we know what he is, and this is it.

  6. The wings have been looking for a new franchise goalie since Howard retired and Husso hasn't been able to fill those shoes. After Lyon stepped up last December I was hoping he would be it, but he's still a bit inconsistent as well. Looking forward to seeing what the season holds
