The Minnesota Wild battled on the second night of a back to back and ultimately fell to the Winnipeg Jets by a score of 2-1 in overtime. The Wild got the scoring started on a goal from Jake Middleton in the first period to make it 1-0. With a few seconds left in the first period, Mark Scheifele scored to tie the score at 1-1 heading into the first intermission. Neither team scored in the second or third period, but Zach Bogosian was called for a penalty in the waning moments of regulation and the Jets capitalized in overtime. Filip Gustavsson stopped 33 of 35 shots in net for the Wild Minnesota plays St. Louis to continue the road trip on Tuesday.

Listened to the podcast on the way home from meeting the granddaughter for the very first time! Let’s not jump off the cliff yet. Great effort tonight, Gusty looks great, team played with grit 2 nights in a row, lines already shuffled but all in all, a great point. Sit EK Tuesday and let him get a few days to heal. Gus played well enough to win, but there was not enough scoring. The one to watch is Fleury. He looked bad the other night in a game the Wild should have won. If he can't find decent form in the next 3 or 4 starts, it will be time to sit him and let Wallstedt play.
People will view this as being 1-2.. but I prefer to view it as “we haven’t had a regulation loss the 24-25 season”

Why was Marat not out there at the end of the first? I would have had my 3 strongest guys in the face off dot out there. There wasn’t going to be any open play, the only thing you’re defending against is exactly what happened. All they had to do was not let WPG get a clean shot off. Instead the Wild stack a wall like they’re defending a soccer free kick and have Boldy take the faceoff to lose it cleanly.
